Either Noah took them on the ark, or they are a descendant of one of the animals that Noah took on the ark. With the exception of some sea creatures, every other living thing was killed in the flood. The jumbled up mess of fossils, I believe, supports this theory. Fossils are certainly not found in the nice neat order that you find them on the Geologic Column.

They were on the rubber raft being towed behind the ark -- along with the platypusses, kangaroos, koala bears, Tasmania Devils and Kiwis. The rope broke somewhere along the way and the raft drifted to Australia. Noah never noticed. He was having too much fun with all those sheep and goats.
