No, do not feed for 12 hours before the surgery, and no water 8 hours before surgery. No treats, either.
For example, we ask our patients to arrive around 7:30 - 8 AM, and we tell them not to give food after 7 PM and no water after 11 PM

NO food or water for the night.
The reason for the fast before surgery is that if she has anything in her stomach while under anestetic, there is the possibility that she may vomit and aspirate (inhale) the vomit into her lungs, which can lead to complications.
Please follow the vets directions and don't give into those puppy eyes tonight. You'll have plenty of time to spoil her after the surgery. Giving her food or water tonight really isn't worth the risks.

No, they must fast 12 hours before the surgery due to the anesthesia used. General anesthesia causes nausea and vomiting, and if there are any stomach contents during the procedure the dog could vomit. This could be fatal if inhaled.
This goes for both food and water.

The veterinarian is supposed to tell you No food or water 12 hours before surgery. So this depends on when what time the vet does the surgery. So I would feed her dinner, then pick up her food and water.

Ask your vet.
Generally they impose a 12-hour food and water fast to decrease the odds that there will be complications with the anesthesia.

You should not let her eat or drink anything. If she has food in her stomach it may make her sick when they give her the anesthesia. I had that experience. I fed my cat before he got neutered thinking it wouldn't hurt anything. It did. He became sick and had to stay at the vets office for three days.

The vet didn't give pre-op instructions? They told us not to feed ours after midnight the day of the operation.
