If the answer is 1 ton =2,000 LBS then what do thy mean when thy say a 1 Ton ford truck?

Its a rating they gave trucks years ago and is really no longer valid. Years ago a 1 ton truck could carry 2000 pounds. The trucks are no longer rated in tonage but payload. many have over 4000 payload limits (including passengers) people, even in the industry, still refer to them from time to time as 1/4 1/2 3/4 and 1 ton trucks. Some people don't want to change their thinking

A one ton truck refers to how heavy a load it can carry safely. The truck itself will weigh considerably more than one ton!

It's the load capacity in the BED of the truck. NOT the load AND the truck weight.

It means the largest load you can safely haul is 2000 pounds Max

it means that the truck can haul 2000 lbs of weight saftley it will haul a lot more but that is what they say when they test for saftey

It means a one ton payload,but it is common practice to double the payload capacity. I really don't recommend this for a standard pickup.
