Does anyone understand MPEG2 headers and transmission streams, so that I can convert back and forth.?

I am trying to write a program which converts the TS data from DVB-T to MPEG2 for DVD etc. but can't quite get timing info correct. I don't need to know about MPEG, just the wrappers. I know - buy a DVD recorder.... That's one way, but PC or dedicated system allows more flexability.
