Vehicle Registration?

Question

I bought a car in north carolina from an individual. She signed her name and gave me the title. When I got home i was told that she needed to do that in front of a notary. However, now she is no where to be found...what would be the next step?

Not necessarily, depends on the state.

If you file for a lost title, you need notarized, but if it's a simple transfer, you usually don't need it notarized, at least not in CA. Don't know about NC.

also have her name, address and phone number ready just in case
