It depends on the size of the potatoes.
Preheat oven to 350 and lay out pieces of aluminum foil equal to the number of spuds you are baking. Rinse & dry potatoes and lightly smear them with shortening or oil & wrap them individually in the foil sheets. I don't use a baking sheet -straight on the oven rack. After an hour you can squeeze them lightly with a cuptowel. If they are ready, they will "give". If you have an odd assortment of sizes some may require a little more time. Just take them out as they are ready.

They are way better in the oven than in the microwave! Much lighter and fluffier. They're great rubbed with a little oil, sprinkled with kosher salt, wrapped in foil and baked at 350 for 45 to 60 minutes depending on the size of the potato. Right on the oven rack. This way the skins taste better than the inside!

Generally I rub them with oil. Rub lots of course ground salt (you can rub this off when you want to eat this. Just makes the skins go firmer) and put them straight in on the rack. That way the air can get them all round. I usually do 180 - 200 for approximately an hour. To make sure you could try sticking a knife in to see if they are done.
You can buy baked potato spikes which claim to cook them quicker, but I am not convinced - and they are messy.
Never microwave, and I find foil leaves you with a flabby, sweaty skin. I prefer buff naked - with a good skin to chew on. MMM.
Hope this helps.

You can bake them either in a microwave or the oven. If using the oven then I recommend that you wash them well and prick with a fork I wrap them in foil but before doing so I rub them with butter or margarine and add garlic powder salt and pepper so they are seasoned when they are done baking. Takes about 1 hour on 350 degrees.
When I am in a really big hurry I will microwave them. I put them in for about 10 minutes but I bake large potatoes. I prick them with a fork. Once done I add butter, sour cream and salt and pepper. Hope this helps you out.
Good luck cooking

I wash the potatoes, poke each of them with an ice pick or fork, and microwave them about ten minutes...they should be fairly soft. Then I butter the skins, put them in foil and bake them for about 15 minutes at 400 degrees. They taste great and takes a short time to fix.

The absolute best "baked" potatoes I've ever had were cleand and pricked, place in a shallow bowl of water and microwaved for approximately 4-6 min. They come out moist and flaky and yuummy!!!!
Or if your intent on using the oven..spread butter on foil then wrap and bake at 350 for about 30-45 min depending on size of poataoe. Stick a knife in them to check how tender!

Until they're done.
No, you don't wrap them in foil. That's steaming and not baking. The same is true of using a microwave.
Scrub them well, puncture them all over with a fork (it gives the steam a way to escape, so the potatoes don't explode in the oven) rub them with a tiny, tiny bit of oil (it crisps the skins) and put them on the rack.
How long depends on the size of the potatoes and the oven temperature.

Prick them on a fork and bake them on a rack for about an hour. Only use foil if you like soft skin, no foil = crispy skin = yum.

Depends on how big the potato is. Start @ 400 for about an hour. You'll be able to "squeeze" it gently to see if it's done. I like to fix mine by rubbing the outer skin with some butter & wrap in foil to bake them.
