If it's a full edition, it will prompt you and ask if you want to format the hard drive first - I'd back up all my files to disk and let it. Nothing like a fresh installation to make a computer fly.

ME - not just an operating system, it's an adventure.

No, but I would suggest a fresh install not an upgrade. Back up your data first including your documents, email addresses, favorites, etc. Then download the necessary drivers. Pop the XP disk in and do a clean install over a format. Will shed all those registry entries that point to nothing!

you could install XP along with ME, partition your hard drive, and stick XP in the new partition.
When you boot your computer up, you will get the option to load XP or ME.
Windows will automatically boot the newest OS, if you do not choose.
BUT ALWAYS BACK UP YOUR FILES AND DATA!

If its an retail version of XP, then you can simply upgrade, otherwise, it will just install a new copy of XP

yes , if you put in the windows XP disc it will give you an option permitting you the possiblity of doing that . however to preserve your memory , its to hard to explain. youd have to have someone who already knows how to do these things to do it for you.

well twisted i was just walking in the rain! it was wonderful! no when you put the xp disk in it will ask if you want to format. yes you do! then when it gets to partitions, you want to delete all partitions and when it asks you want to go with ntfs. it will all be brand new! good luck!~
and this tatti before me, you do not want to partition, you would end up with both os. me was terrible!

No. But you would have to partition the hard drive, and put it on the empty partition. If you don't like it, then just go back to ME.
