Some years ago I heard on TV that fluorescent lighting has a slight negative affect on some kinds of illness.
Does anyone know anything concerning this topic?

In a few years traditional incandescent lights will no longer be sold in Canada because they use more energy. Fluorescent lights are going to be everywhere!

YES, very much so. It’s not uncommon for people who spend a lot of time under fluorescent lights or even behind computers to develop a disease called Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. (CFS for short). Fluorescent lighting has also been linked to causing many other health problems including cancer. So if you can, stay away from it.

people who are prone to seizures can have epileptic seizures from blinking lights, whether it be fluorescent or the lights on the computer or tv. Some people who have had cataract survery also find the fluorescents make them dizzy and kind of spacing out almost to a faint. There are more children now born with autism and they will have the problem too.

I wanted to add that the old type bulbs used to heat our cars in the winter (putting a lit bulb under the hood), or if the home was really cold in winter one light bulb (plus breathing of people) would heat the room enough for comfort. I do that in the winter.

I was told that one old bulb equals the light of 3 of the new squiggly bulbs. And the cost that I saw on the squiggly bulbs was around $7, but maybe that's just for my area.

Fluorescent lights do not have full spectrum lighting, so they might contribute to eye fatigue. If your fluorescent lightbulb is singular...you are introducing a flciker which will accelerate the eye fatigue (this is why they are typically set up in twos.)
Each fluorescent lightbulb (including those new energy savers) have a drop of mercury in them, so disposing them incorrectly is very bad for the environment.

The light apparently saves energy... money... &c. Anyhow, they give me bloody headaches becuz the light waves vibrate. I literally almost failed school until they allowed me to wear sunglasses to class.
