Unless you get off the plane and pass through Customs, you haven't officially entered the country. If you're staying on the plane, you'll be fine.

Generally speaking, transit passengers (those not stopping off somewhere) don't need a visa. This can only create problems if your flight gets delayed and you are stuck in transit for several days (this happen to a friend in Moscow airport).
Please note, even if you need a visa, they would respond by putting you on a plane to another country. As you have a ticket to another country, then all they will do is put you on that plane. So don't worry too much about it.
Visas are required only if you have a longer stop over, and you need to leave the airport. Then you will need to go through customs again. For example, if you transfer between airports.

Make sure they don't require you to get off the plane and go through customs. I don't think you'd need a visa for travelling through, but you would need your passport if they require you to go through customs. I recommend you ask the airline, and if they don't give you a solid answer, contact the embassy for the country (or countries) you are travelling through.

If you're staying in the plane or changing a flight, I really don't think you need anything

I don't think you need one. If you are not getting off the plane, I don't see why you'd need one.
