Now here is an answer from someone who is right in the middle of that.

Now, sex: I made my commitment to sexual purity before that pressure really set in. I have held my standards high, and I am not backing down.

Profanity/Swearing is a different story however. I did not hear a curse word until fourth grade, and that was only after the clarification to our class when they gasped at the mentioning of canals, rivers, and dams. Sixth grade is when I learned curse words, but I did not use them. After three years where cursing became part of the regular language, they stuck in my head, and we all know that it's garabage in, garabage out. During freshman year last year, I let down my guard and I turned away from Christ, and that cursing entered in. That mindset took over, and even though I have repented, it is still something I struggle with.

You cannot avoid the cursing, the sex pressure, the downright sick mindset of teens these days, so living in a cave will not help you there. The important thing is to keep reading your Bible, attend a Bible believing church and have fellowship with other believers, and pray. Keep your focus on God, and don't expect to get out of the teenage years with no problem. Stumbling may occur, but simply repent of that and start walking in the light.

Also remember that it's easy to let your guard down, and it's harder to go back than it is to get into things sometimes, and some things, such as virginity, you cannot get back at all.

this is one of the best questions I have read today- Praying is the number one thing we as moms need to do for our kids. I have 2 teenagers- a daughter 15, and a son 18- and it can be hard. Both of my children are believers- however they leave our home everyday to go to high school where they are surrounded by the things of the world. Teach your children by example not by telling them what they need to do- teenagers see how you act before they will hear what you say-

I do not let my children watch programmed tv (cable/satellite/local). They only watch movies that I have pre-approved. My kids attend a Christian school. Their sports teams are Christian. (ie... Upward, Little League, YMCA)
We teach by example- don't do those things.
They will be exposed - I know I just plan on being open and honest with them. I want them to know truth- even the bad things. I can't shelter them from the world but I can give them the knowledge to make informed and intelligent decisions.
I don't agree with sugar coating life. When issues come up- I will be honest about them. I have been so far anyway.

It not easy to be a teenager, but what helps me from staying out of all those things is the conviction that Jesus died for me in the cross for all my sins, that I was the cause of it, so why would I keep sining? I strongly believe that God is always watching what I think, what I do and what I say and I want to make Him happy. I know that He has chosen me to be an example of Jesus to other teenagers, and I want them to see not how good I am, but Jesus through me. I love Jesus and people don't like to hurt their loved ones, so why would I sin if it hurts Him? I'm involved in a Youth Ministry...and I'm an example to other teens. I want and live to glorify Jesus!

I find that the easiest way to prevent myself from staying away from such profanities is by chosing my friends wisely, and generally making good choices (thinking before I act.)
I was brought up in a Catholic home where my parents had taught us the consequences of such things. I also abide by my moral standards when it comes to sex, ect.
I also pray that God will aid me in times of difficulty, because life is by no means easy.

Jesus asked us to pray in every opportunity that we had so that we would not fall into temptation or be part of it. I believe that you can't keep a bird from flying over your head but you can keep him from and building a nest on your head. The same way, you can't keep Satan from tempting you but with prayer, you sure can keep from being part of his wisely attracts. Not only that but, it is a great way to strengthen your spirit and mature in your walk with the Lord...

God Bless...

I personally don't allow anyone in my home who can't at least respect my rules while they're there. As for kids, the best thing to do is pray with them, take them to church and let your life be your message. Kids learn from example so the best thing you can do for them is set a good one.
God bless,
Sarah

I think the best way is to surround yourself with Christian friends and influences, and pray. I try not to watch a lot of shows on that promote sexual things, I hang out a lot with my Christian friends, and I pray all the time. That's the only way I know how.

Simple:

Pray and remember, Jesus gave His life for you, so the least you can do is give Him all of yours. I run from bad things, when i see something that can harm, i avoid it all together take off my sandals and run in the opposite direction toward Jesus and not away.
