Denial of evolution is the first one that springs to mind.

It is a theory built on FACTS.

Because it makes them feel better.

Both scientists and religionists tend to disregard "facts" that don't yet fit into their model of reality. For example, both the theory of evolution and the very brief account of the creation in Genesis have unresolved questions. Both groups obtain "facts" through direct observation and accounts from others. The models are refined as new "facts" become available, at least for people still seeking for truth.

I'm not sure why some seekers of truth feel threatened by others, but I think what some people see as "fact" is offensive in some way to others. Choose not to take offense and make the world a happier place to live.

The facts can be proven both ways:

Fact - Humans and Chimps share similar DNA.
Theory One - The DNA are similar because they are made
by the same Creator - God.
Theory Two - The DNA are similar because they share same
evolutional parent.

Fact - The world is formed by carbon matters.
Theory One - Creation Theory, God made everything by will.
Theory Two - Evolution Theory, The Big-Bang.

As one can see, facts are there, but they support both ways
until on side can actually "prove" anything.

Email me an example or else add detail, I'm not sure what you're refering to. Thanks!

Okay, so for denial of evolution, what are you saying we evolved from? I've heard several different takes on this and I'm interested. I've heard anything from amphibians to monkies. And what facts support the theory? God creating us is a theory based off of facts as well.

Probably because the so called facts that people try to present are not really facts. Instead people present things that have been viewed through the lens of unproved presuppositions and claim that they are facts. Here's a for instance for you.

Someone says that it is a "fact" that fossils have been found that are over a million years old. In reality some fossils have been found that scientists who are using dating methods that are now under question have guessed to be over a million years old. New research shows the dating methods are flawed and when diamonds which are very unlikely to be subject to outside contamination were tested using an advanced process they were found to be around 6,000 years old instead of the millions of years that scientists had previously assigned to them using the same methods that they had used to assign similar ages to fossil remains.

Facts can change according to man's knowledge and progression in intellect yet nothing in the Bible has ever been proven to be wrong so it's "logical" to stick with what works right? ;) (It was a fact that the earth was flat) And another thing if evolution was written in the bible scientist wouldn't believe it LOL

Facts are Facts, Theories are Theories, get a dictionary.
Theories are based partially on fact and partionally on the unknown. That is why they are called Theories and not Facts.

Faith is based on a knowledge of God's character through His word. What you are describing sounds more like presumption which is based on preconceived ideas apart from knowledge.

Because it conflicts with their beliefs. It's pretty sickening huh? They will ALWAYS come up with some kind of excuse or twist some meaning of scripture back in everyone elses face for their own disgruntled pleasure.

I'm SICK and TIRED of hearing ignorant christians exclaim "EVOLUTION HAS NEVER BEEN PROVEN"

evolution is not a fact..yada yada....

it obviously has more evidence lined up then what the Bible does.

For the same reason some evolutionists insist that known " facts" are not indeed "facts" if they conflict with their faith. : )
