One way to fight the way is to discourage enlistment, and encourage military member no to re-enlist or extend their obligation.

I spent 20 years in the military from 1984 to 2004 and I would not recommend nor do it agian. I believe that the draft needs to be instituted so that we have everyone paying the same price for protecting our country.

Too many of the armed forces enlisted personel are from poor towns with little educational background and little political connections or power. Therefore the people who make the decisions to go to war usually do not have any children or relatives in the military, if they do, they typically have some cush job or are protected by the military from seeing combat. Not all but most.

If the draft was instituted then every American with children would be more active and interested in our foreign diplomacy and we would most likely have less wars because of the personal involvement. Lets face it, it is easier sending someone elses kids to go get killed or mangled than it is your own.

Just for your information though, it is illegal in most states to try and talk someone out of joining the military unless they are in your immediatte family or specifically ask your advice...talk about a free country and free speech...lol ....

The 2006 Florida Statutes 250.52 Unlawful to persuade citizens not to enlist; penalty.--Whenever the United States is at war, or our foreign relations tend to indicate an impending war or state of war, a person may not solicit or persuade a citizen of the United States not to enlist or serve in the Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, or Navy, or in any reserve component thereof, or in the Florida National Guard, or publicly attempt to dissuade any such citizen from enlisting. This section does not apply to the soliciting or persuading done by any person related by affinity or consanguinity to the person solicited or persuaded or whose advice is requested by the person solicited or persuaded. Any person who violates this section commits a misdemeanor of the first degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083."




As for the other people on here that have made negative remarks to your comments, all you can do is laugh, because they are truly the least American of any of us. They just spout off at the mouth and blindly follow the propoganda machine of American politics without upholding their duties of being American.

People like you and I are more like the founding fathers who not only found it to be the right thing to question authority, they actually deemed it neccessary as ones civil duty.

SINCE when has questioning authority and blindly following our government come to be known as American? Our forefathers certainly did not do this.

The Military is a fighting force, not a beauty parlor,clearly you aren't intelligent enough to figure that out. Good luck tweasing your eyebrows during urban combat while you are covered in dust, ammunition powder, blood and sweat. If you want to be surrounded by beautiful people, go work for a modeling agency. The Military is to serve your country, and the consequence of that may mean one day you are beautiful and the next day your face and body may never look the same again.

That is not a way to fight the war. The way to fight the war is by electing officials who feel the way you do. I think you should search out some military members and you would probably find out how happy and well adjusted they are. While, I'll admit that having to go to war is not fun, it is something that every service member knows is a possibility. And by the way, while you are out encouraging military members no to re-enlist, what alternative are you going to offer them to the massive re-enlistment bonuses they are being offered?

I am opposed to the Invasion of Iraq but I would not discourage anyone from enlisting. The Army has always been my life, regarless of who it serves. There are a lot of potentially good soldiers out there wasting time on a bull crap degree.

I've met Lawyers who could barely read or write.

The United States Constitution gives the governmet the power to maintain a standing military. There will always have to be commissioned officers to do that.

I'm sorry if you don't understand the need for a military, but their job is to protect you (if you're an American). There are people in the world that don't even know you that would take your life, just because your an American, if they were allowed to (the people behind 9/11 for instance).

Americans aren't bad people (generally). Even though we are powerful, we don't control the whole earth and we need to be able to protect ourselves if some other culture tries to dominate or destroy us. I hope this makes sense to you.

Why would you want to? Like Shellie said, if the USA government doesn't have enough people joining then purely in the interest of self-preservation, it will draft people against their will. That means you, if you're American.

Of course, you could go to Canada or some other country, but would you be willing to leave your home, your family for all that? And if so, then for how long?

Our country needs to have a military. Having said that, I wouldn't enlist right now, considering I'd probably be sent to fight a war I consider immoral, expensive and horrific.
Enlisting people should be told the truth. They should be told they'll likely be sent to the middle east. They should be told that when they get back they're going to have to beg and scream for the benefits they were promised. They should be told they'd better not get hurt because getting medical help in this country is so complicated that people give up.
The truth is painful.

If people don't voluntarily enlist then the draft will be reenstated and then everyone will be over seas. So thank the members that reenlist and join up. Because it keeps your butt from having to join.

weather we are at war or not. Every country needs a Military
