Do the Mormons trace their roots back to the Melungeons ?

As far as I'm aware, no, the LDS don't trace their roots back to the American Melungeons. The Melungeons are a separate cultural and ethnic group. There are rumors of Abraham Lincoln, Elvis Presley and Ava Gardner being of Melungeon ancestry, but I've never heard any such claims about Mormons in general, or about Joseph Smith in particular.
