Actually, at the council of nicea in the 12th century, the various gospels that make up the bible as we know it today were voted upon whether they would be considered cannon (part of the collection that composes scripture). Many gospels we don't have included were rejected. The gospels were written by many authors.

Maybe they are turning in their graves, not so much because people actually believe what they wrote, but because war and other atrocities have been and are being commited over what they wrote. It's not funny at all.

First of all, the Bible isn't a novel (though there are critics who study it as a literary work, but that's different). It was not a novel written by one person, but a collection of stories and records written, compiled, or transcribed by hundreds of prophets, scribes, or scholars. It took centuries for the Bible to develop into the book that we read today, so there is no way it could've been written by just one person.

I understand that people have different interpretations of the Bible, but please do basic research before posting such a naive question.

The Bible is a collection of writings. They were chosen by a select group of men (King James Version) with the intention of creating one cohesive book for all the believers. Naturally there are quite a few conflicts. The interpretation probably isn't bad but unless you have been sucked into the Chrisian belief system it is clear that the bible is flawed.
