Here is a Muslim webpage on dogs:
http://muttaqun.com/dogs.html

Note the instruction to "kill a dog that is pure black."

Muslims think that dogs are filthy. A Muslim who is seriously practicing his religion cannot own a dog.
Or so I have been told by practicing Muslims.

Dogs, like pigs (and, I think, donkeys or maybe it's mules), are considered 'unclean' animals. Muslims wouldn't eat the flesh of an unclean animal, just like environmentalists wouldn't want to eat an Alar-tainted apple, but they don't hate them.

No; some Muslims believe dogs make unnatural pets, but Muslims do not actually hate dogs.

dogs are considered unclean. out of necessity they are used in military, airports, borders, police. I don't hate dogs. A Muslim farmer may own several dogs on his land, but they do not sleep inside.

Some think that it is unclean to own one. Some say that it is okay as long as they are outside. It just depends on how serious they are about practicing their religion.

I wouldn't say they necessarily hate them but it does say in the Koran that dogs are unclean.

Yes. They're considered an unclean animal. Pretty 10th-century of them, if you ask me.
