What would you do if at school, your best friend took your paper to "see," copied it word by word when you weren't there, and turned it into your teacher earlier in the day than you did, AND got an A plus? And later in the day, you turned it into your teacher, and she gave you a weird look. Later that day, you confronted your friend about it after finding it out, and she smiled and said a sarcastic "Sor-RY" when you said you were upset. What would you do?
This didn't happen to me, but it happened to one of my best friends, and I'm looking for advice to tell her.

What I would do is get everyone who knows who wrote the paper and who this other girl confessed to and go the teacher. Your friend worked too hard on a paper to have was stolen, yes stolen, and rewarded for the other girls work.
And as far as she being a friend, she is not a friend. She will do it again given the chance.
Like I say hurt me once shame on you, hurt me twice shame on me.
She obviously doesn't have any hard feeling by the way she responded.
When I was in college I was the chemistry lab help, I got to grade papers and I would confront anyone I seen cheating and/or who had the same wrong answer word for word. I would give them the chance to talk to the instructor before going to the instructor myself.
Hope this helped, but she really needs to be told on.

i would tell the teacher the truth.....that she asked to see your paper, and that she copied it. Even if she gets in trouble for giving the other friend the paper in the first place, at least the teacher will know that she is not the cheater.

First thing would be to talk to the teacher, to make it very clear who did the original work and who plagiarized.
Then I would talk to the 'friend' and tell her you don't have time for games like that.
If she did it once, she'll do it gain. And if you won't play, others will. So it's important that the teacher knows about it. It isn't squealing, it's making sure that people who do the work get the credit.

Most definitely, I would talk to the teacher about this. There is no way to prove it, and the teacher may be skeptical, at first, since there is no way to nail down whom the paper originated with, unless it was typed with a comp. program with a time stamp. Even then. . . .
But most importantly, do NOT deal with this person in any way any longer. Walk away, and stay as far away as possible. And know that the truth about this person and her behavior will eventually reveal itself.

That happened to me back in high school. The teacher knew who copied from whom, but she still knocked my grade down from a 95 to a 75. As for my friend? Well I concluded she wasn't much of a friend. And I never let anyone see my homework after that. Tough lesson.

Tell your friend to approach the teacher about it, and tell the teacher the entire story. And from now on, don't be friends with the girl who stole the paper.

She should go to her teacher and tell her what happened, and see if there is a way that her teacher can tell the difference, because they should have different writing styles and does it make sense that this other person is capable of such a paper.
I don't know if there is anyway to prove it though.

That was no friend.
Your friend should talk to the teacher. (Teachers can often figure out whose work is really whose -- given past performance, and writing style.)
You friend should never again have anything to do with the cheater. She's trouble and doesn't care about your friend at all.

She is not your friends friend. She is basically a thief and while I probably would not rat on her unless confronted by my teacher, I would definitely not be hanging out with her any longer. If she would do that, you can bet that she will do other devious things to your friend in the future. She is just using her.
