The Blood Bank pesters me with phone calls almost every day.
They pester my wife mostly, asking for me to donate. My wife cannot donate.
I have donated over 25 pints in my life so far (according to their records), and I finally told the woman on the phone that I just don't feel like donating now:
Woman: "...your blood is desperately need..."
Me: "Not now".
Woman" "Is there a reason..."
Me: "My union has a blood drive coming soon. I'll donate then."
Woman: "Can you donate tomorrow....."
Me: "No. I am tired of you guys calling me all of the time. My veins have scars, so now I donate on the right arm. It costs me gas to travel 10 miles to your facility. The CEO at the Blood Bank makes 100K a year, and you want me to donate for free?
How about a $5.00 McDonald's Gift card. Maybe a Gas card or something? Even a paper certificate to make feel good about donating. How about a plastic trophy....something?
Woman: "Is that what you want."
Me: Yeah.
Woman: "Well... Don't you feel

This is a serious subject to me... Ok, if you are giving blood then good 4 you...you are saving lives.. the reason they keep calling, which i understand is annoying, is because you could save a life. Think about it. You spend money to travel 10 miles to donate, but you could be saving 3 lives.. What if your wife needed blood and the person who has it wont donate because he doesnt feel like driving. I understand that you are a hardworker and you dont want to be bothered about it, but its not something they can make, or something that they are just trying to find a cheap way to get it. I know that in my area they do give you $25 cards to olive garden and a tshirt everytime. But, maybe some places dont. I still would just suck it up and go donate. You never know who is getting your blood. Just remember that you are the hero and that you are saving lives, and THANK YOU for donating.

Actually, I find it amazingly rude that they would badger you about donating! If it's the American Red Cross, you could always file a complaint with the regional center about it. If it's just some blood bank, I'd call your phone company and ask that number to be blocked.
And no, I don't think you should feel guilty for not donating at the moment. You should never be pressured into donating blood - or anything for that matter - when you don't want to.

NO! The American Red Cross is one of the biggest rottenest Organization around. They make about 250 to 400 on every pint of blood donated. Last year they made 1.8 billion dollars!
They were fined in November 5.7 million in fines for Blood tampering laws and violating a decent degree they entered into.
As of April 18th this year they named the current Head of the IRS as there new Chairperson. (Sure you know how compassionate the IRS is) The last one resigned because of all the mishandling of monies of Katrina. Not to mention the 1000's pints of Blood that got thrown away after 911 when they put on a big con-blood drive on and then did not have the ability to freeze or refrigerate the overwhelming amount collected. They would not lower the price to Hospitals they charge for Blood so they just threw the 1000's of pints away.
THEY ARE THE BLOOD BARONS OF THIS MARKET!
SO YOUR ANSWER IS NO!

This is what you do, get the name of the facility and the number, and the person's name, and say this exactly, "Put me ON the DO NOT CALL list."
I am a stockbroker, and if they say "Put me on the do not call list" - that's it, it's over. Now, if they say, "take me off your list" that's different.
If they call again, you can sue. Even if you file a complaint you usually get some money. RECORD the conversation, or send a certified letter, but don't let anyone bully you, ever.
No one is obligated to donate, nor should anyone be. I was on some medicine during 9/11 and believed (erroneously) that I COULD not donate, and didn't, to my regret.
And many people sell platelets - $50 a pop. You're perfectly justified in wanting them off your back.

I think you sound like kind of a whiner, dude. Cowboy Up and just say "no" or just DO it.
They have no right to badger you about it, but all you gotta do is say "OK" or "No"
That works for me.

I feel that you are a jerk. You should permanently hook yourself up to a blood machine and just donate for the rest of your life.
