I did the driving experience at Atlanta last November. It is very different from the ride-along (which my fiancee did).
First they ride you around the track in a van to show the entire group where the racing lines are, and where you roll off/get on the gas.
Then they take you to the cars and show you the fire system, how to work the window nets, the transmission, ignition, how to get the steering wheel on/off.........etc.
Then you drive; you'll follow an instructor to keep the racing line; normally you'll take the low line but occasionally they'll go around the high line. Speeds range between 140-160.

Last summer I did the ride along at Atlanta....and it was one of the funnest things i ever done. I'm not old enough to do anything but the ride along so that sucked but the ride along was cool. I think we topped out around 155, that's what we were told and it seemed like that too. It's a good time for sure. It was only 3 laps, but it's something you'll probably never get to do again. If ya got the $99 to do it and you are a NASCAR fan it is a MUST DO!!!

I did the Petty Driving Eperience at Vegas but not the ride along. It is cool, but I've come to realize you pay a bunch for the Petty name. There are cheaper and better racing programs out there at least as far as driving. If you are only doing the ride along though, I doubt it would be much different anywhere else.
I need a wheel in my hands to go that fast!!!! I wouldn't trust anyone else with my butt...

I 'm a life long NASCAR fan and it put a whole new spin on the way I look at the races now. Did the driving experience a few years ago in Charlotte - I get excited going to the races and hearing (and feeling) the cars start- up. This was even 10 times better than that. You will love it!!!!

You will love it. It's $99 (at least it was when I did it), and worth it, one of those once in a lifetime experiences. I did mine at Lowe's Motor Speedway in North Carolina, we went about 180 I believe it was. They go full speed on the ride alongs. They took 3 cars out at a time and raced 3 laps, each lap the cars switched positions, they did this to give you the full effect of racing against other cars and how it feels in each position. YOU WILL ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. Have fun!!!

I have not had a chance to do the Petty Driving Experience at Atlanta, but would love to one day. It is my best track on NASCAR 2007, so it would be interesting to drive it in real life. I do know that the video game is not even remotely close to real life, so it would be a challenge.
