Some companies "will" pull a hard inquiry when asked for a credit limit increase.
Some companies will only pull a soft inquiry.
It's hard for anyone on here to say if the company has pulled a hard or a soft inquiry on you. (unless the answerer on here is the actual CSR that took your request and knows it is you - or - has esp)
For future credit limit increases, always ask that they consider your increase request without pulling a hard inquiry.
It does not matter if it's with an "existing" creditor or not - a hard inquiry is a hard inquiry.

Good news girl! This answer is from someone who also has "questionable" credit, but pays attention too!
The answer is NO! An inquiry from an EXISTING creditor shouldn't affect your rating.
You sound like you're credit-smart enough to know that inquiries to your credit can damage your rating.
I also got denied for a credit increase not too long ago.
Just keep paying your card EVERY month in FULL!
They'll increase your limit without you asking them.
It takes some time.Just keep paying your bills. It'll happen.

it doesn't show as an inquiry to others, but shows as an inquiry that only you can see. when you get any of your credit reports, you will see a section saying "inquiries not seen by others" or something like that. thats where this falls under so it doesn't affect your credit score or inquiries at all :)

No don't worry...asking for a credit increase will not hurt your credit. They based their decision on whatever credit history you have with them...whether it be late payments or just not enough time on your card...they do not check your overall credit (which includes any car/morgage loans/other credit cards you have)
They would have to let you know before they do such an extensive credit check.
Don't worry, it shouldn't take long for them to increase your credit limit as long as you pay on time :)
