You know, that's a really GOOD question! I don't think they discuss this issue enough at work. I don't think it's rude b/c the person is just trying to show that he/she's a good employee- that nothing will keep them from work- that's an admirable quality. Yet, at the same time, no one else wants to get sick either- Maybe they should set aside a one desk room for anyone who's sick that decides to come to work. Sort of a quarantine. good question though!

I don't think it's rude, but I don't think you should go to work with a cold. You should stay home and get over it before it gets hold of you. You should definitely use anti-bacterial tissues and lotion and cover your face with the inside of your elbow when you cough/sneeze. If you have a fever, definitely stay home - you're contagious. Think about having a flu shot next year. The problem is that some people have asthma or other health issues where they catch colds/viruses easier than others, so you should be considerate of others. I know that you have to make a living, but hopefully, if you stay away one or two days, you won't be contagious any more and everyone will be healthier and happier.

This depends on the intensity of the cold. Generally speaking we can't just stop from work every time we get the sniffles. However, if you are having a serious case of the influenza it may be wise to stay home for a couple of days, so you can rest and get over it more quickly, as well as to prevent it from spreading to others at work who you may interact with.

If there is alot of sneezing and coughing involved then definitely stay home . You are probably feeling miserable and would not be very productive at work. The bad symptoms usually last only a couple of days, so give yourself some time to rest and recuperate. Make sure when you go back to work that you have plenty of tissue and antibacterial hand cleaner.

No. I think it's rude to stay home from work because you have the sniffles, and force your employer and co-workers to cover for you when you're not even sick.

A cold isn't a sickness, it's an inconvenience.

I mean yeah of course. Because if you go to work with a cold then your not showing respect for ohers an yourself, because by having a cold you culd make some else sick and they might get mad because they have to take off of work.

No because most jobs wont pay you for taking the day off for a cold. But I'm also not going to let you breathe on me either!

It's inconsiderate to go anywhere with a cold! Matter of fact, I'm sniffling now because someone went out with one and gave it to me!

It's more than just rude. It's disrespectful. It's inconsiderate. It's a violation of the rights of other people. It's a crime against all of humanity !
