Have you gone outside to see what he is barking at? How much time do you spend with the dog, is it bored? What breed is it, some breeds bark as warnings to their owners, that something is wrong in their territory. Have you considered letting the dog be a part of the family, and stay inside? He isn't barking to irritate anyone, he is trying to tell you something and you aren't getting the message.

Firstly, do you own a high energy dog? He will be quiet if you take him out for a run before bed. Dogs have much more energy than humans, so if you aren't letting him run off his energy he will be awake all night instead of sleeping like a tired dog would.

Dogs bark to warn off "intruders"; could be a possum, a coon, a squirrel, a mouse in the underbrush, another dog, the neighbor's cat...
He's probably driving the neighbors crazy too.
Go out and see what he is barking about.
Bring him in.
My, that was easy.

Bring him inside. Crate train him so he is in his safe little den at night. No more nighttime barking.

Bring him inside where he belongs. He'll feel safer, and won't feel the need to bark at every little noise or critter.

You might try a bark collar. They also make a collar that sprays a mist each time they bark. You could also try crating him at night.Barking is a hard habit to break.Good luck.

Turn on a 24 hour radio station really quietly in another room.
