They should ban every post which is just someone posting text and asking for it to be translated.

Any question like that should be referred to Babelfish and that's it.

Anyone else find that kind of annoying? There are no genuine language related questions in here. If you got rid of translation requests, there would be very few left.

Can we all petition yahoo to put a big sign at the top of this section saying "Go to Babelfish or search for an online translator first".

Because the online translators are bad and the result is just rubbish.

My beef is not with people who want something translated, for as others have already pointed out, online translators generally don't produce very natural equivalents. What irks me to some extent, though, is when people ask such things as, "How do you say, 'Your momma's so fat she sat on a quarter and a booger came out George Washington's nose'?" I can't imagine how someone from another culture could appreciate that. Basically, I get the impression that people want to know how to say something cute that will impress others, but they don't really care about learning any of the language. Don't even get me started on how they choose the best answer! Nevertheless, I do sometimes see what appear to be legitimate requests. I just wish those others would think about their motives.

You are real pendejo. Isn't translation about languages? What do you think people ask to be translated? Math? Cuisine? Travel? This section is called LANGUAGES, for crying out loud. And forget babelfish. Babelfish is for lazy asses. Babel can't translate right. No, I will NEVER sign your idiotic petition.
