I was thinking of majoring in pre-dentistry(sort of like pre-med) but I recently found out, its not technically a major. Its more of a support basis for students in college interested in becoming a dentist. They offer course to help and such. Now thast pre-dentistry is out what do you think I should major in? I know dental schools favor science majors also like biochemistry or biology and such, butI want a major that will help me even if for some reason my career idea changes later in life you know?
Please help me

I would pick chemistry first, biology second. If you don't happen to get into dental school on your first try than you can find a job that pays a lot more with a chemistry degree than you can a biology degree. Nothing against biology at all but chemistry in my opinion is the way to go.

You really need to talk to the college placement officer or counselor. Theyre job is to know these things. Youre right tho there is no such thing as pre-dental. Prob best to take pre-med stuff like A&P, biology, chemistry, medical terminology, maybe even a course for medications and their side effects, usage, and contrarindications. Anything in the sciences.

You could consider either nursing (if you are looking to stay along the lines of medical/dental) or business as possible majors. A good book you can check out for some of the different majors is thru Princeton Review. It's a list of all the majors around the country and it tells you which schools offer what you are looking for. You can find a copy of it at your local library. Another option is training to become a dental assistant if you would like to stay in the dental field if you don't go to dental school.

Pick a major that you like but excell at the prerequsited and get a high GPA. If you can't get a high GPA (think 3.6+) in sciences, then pick somethingt hat you like and you will excell at. I chose biology because I truly like it and it's prepared me well for the courses that I'm taking 1st and 2nd year.
One of my friends was a hygiene major (also an excellent route) to get used to the ins and outs of the dental school. She's loved every minute of it.
If you are dead set on becoming a dentist, I'd advise hygeine and finish up your prereqs and get your bachelor's.
But in the end, dental schools care about the numbers. As long as your GPA is great, DAT is great, and you rock the interview. You;ll be in.

well dentist and doctors study pretty much the same thing, medicine. Dont know what your current school offers. but biology, chemistry even physics and math can really help you become great dentist. Study the nervous system and circulatory. Ask your advisor. If you change your career idea later in life with math itself u can become pretty much anything, adding physics, chemistry and biology you will be a rocket scientist. And it is all hard work. Nothing else.

My major is Biology and I'm a 2nd year pre-dental student. Most of the dentist I've talked with did a biology or chem. major.

IT REALLY DOESN'T MATTER WHICH MAJOR IS NEEDED FOR DENTAL SCHOOL. MOST OF THE SUBJECT MATTERS THAT PERTAIN TO DENTISTRY DEAL WITH BIOCHEMISTRY. YOU HAVE TO THINK OF NOT JUST TODAY BUT ALSO THE FUTURE. BIOLOGY DEGREES ARE THE MOST COMMON, BUT HAVE LITTLE TO DO WITH THE FIELD OF DENTISTRY. IF B/C ISN'T TOO HARD FOR YOU THEN STUDY THIS. IT WILL GIVE YOU A SOLID BACKGROUND.

Choose something you are interested in and can do well in. Lots of my colleagues in dental school had been biology majors. I don't think it much matters what you major in as long as you fulfill the requirements for dental school and that you do well in school.

In my opinion, pick a major that you can achieve a high GPA. Biochemistry is not a bad major at all.
Start looking into/studying for the DAT.

chemistry / biochemistry are tough majors with few people interested. if you have that under your belt you can easily switch to a lab tech type of job. you could always do pre-med but i hear its very cut throat and grade driven.
