Why does it seem that a lot of people online have trouble with basic grammar and communication skills?

People online seem to also abbreviate, such as "I C" when they could easily type "I see". (It's only 2 more letters!)

Are people really this uneducated, or is it just plain laziness? What are your views on this?

Jays_mom: If people speak a different language as their primary language, I can understand that. I am referring to people who grew up in the United States and had the opportunity to go to school but still lack basic grammar skills.

Even if it is just posting on the internet, I do believe that presentation is everything. If a person is sloppy with their grammar and is typing incoherent sentences, people will perceive that person as being less intelligent.

Well a lot of people on here don't even speak English well(meaning they are just learning) But I don't really think that this is that big of a deal, they aren't turning this in to their professors, its just yahoo answers, give them a break.

Today’s Teens have just defined themselves as a generation, as every generation has done before them. Teenagers have found a great unique use of the technology given to them, and with such technology teens have developed a different more efficient language. Most of the abbreviations you speak of were made to express as many things as possible in a smaller space; which is completely relevant when talking about text messaging on cellular phones. Imagine the difference in affect when you understand “lol” (laugh out loud) but you instead scroll on your phone to read “laugh ou (next page) t loud.” However, the faulty grammar and terrible spelling is a result of the use of the text message vernacular, which to teens seems like a necessity for life.

It probably comes out of the "text messaging" crowd who want to shorten things as much as possible in order to fire off a quick message since typing from a number pad is a little choresome.

Why might an "knowledgeable" person use the word "in simple terms undeniable?" i actually have a Ph.D in Physics and Bio-Engineering. I grew up around o.k. knowledgeable human beings, in spite of the shown fact that particular, the south isn't to boot-rounded in many aspects because of investment..or risking state money into non-worthwhile black pits that we don't get returned. there is incredibly no clarification to your ideological experience of "social superiority" once you assert: Are they genetically unsuitable? of direction some are, yet everybody is a genetic flaw. Please coach your self as a substitute of embarrassing your self with your lack of awareness.

Excellent.

People who type, write, and speak with poor grammer make themselves look unintelligent, especially when they do it on purpose.

I have been telling people this for awhile and they just look at me offended. I am not trying to offend you, rather offer you some good advice.

It does not take that much work to speak correctly, or at least type it.
