No, I belive that children should be taught how to eat healthy for themselves. They should be able to say no to junk food, because people arent always going to be there to just hide it from them. Thats just my oppinion though.

No. It is a parent's responsibility to teach a child how to distinguish between healthy and junk food.
I graduated from high school 29 years ago. We had a Coke machine and a candy machine in the cafeteria. How many fat kids were in my graduating class of 577 students? Maybe one or two, and they were nowhere near obese, just overweight.
Another thing that kids did back then? They went outside and played. They actually HAD TO participate in gym class. We got the exercise. Mom didn't drive us to school. We walked or rode (the far away ones rode the bus). Think about it... there were few or no "low fat" options back then.
The real difference is that we've become a lazy society preferring convenience over health.

I'm in my mid-30's and I still can't believe to this day that you can eat junk food in school. My school wasn't like that. There was a closed campus, no extra food allowed, and you only ate what the meal of the day was in the cafeteria. Chips would have been a real treat! So I say to keep that crap out of schools and maybe kids won't be coddled and obese.

I do think in schools they should be as well as the high fat, sugary foods most school cafeteria serve. The kids need to eat and maybe if we cut out the junk, school would be the one place they do eat healthy and they would see that they can live with it!

No way...I love junk food and I am old...(ok..I'm not that old) you either have it in your blood or you don't. If you can't find it one place, you will find it another. Pisses me off..my daughter ate a salad every day at school for lunch and they switched over to muffins...now after all the crap about junk food...a school does that...it's about the almighty $$$..they were throwing away too much salad so switched to crap food.

Yes...all food should be purchased thru the cafeteria so items can be kept clean and cold for healthier foods. How do we expect kids to eat right if we dont lead by example.

No, they should just reload them with healthy snacks. But they do take up a lot of space for very little profit. And they aren't attractive. So, maybe the answer is 'yes'!
