Diet and exercise can't even burn fat that quickly. Only having it removed can do it that fast, but I don't suggest it. I work with many people who have turned to alternate forms of weight loss, one being stomach stapling. I train two clients that have had gastric bypass surgery and now have serious problems with maintaining their lean body mass, because they can't eat enough food to maintain their muscles. Their bodies are literally wasting away. Obviously you are more than welcome to try other forms of weight reduction, but take it from someone who has seen the aftermath of fad diets and gastric bypass surgeries. The only time that you would need to have the aforementioned procedure is if the weight is life threatening. 20-40 lbs. isn't.

A pound of fat contains about 3,500 calories. A pound of muscle burns 30-50 calories/day. If you can build 20 lbs. of muscle, you would be burning 1,000 extra calories/day. It takes the average beginner about 8-12 months to build that amount of muscle (not using steroids). At that rate, you would be burning fat at about 2 lbs./week just sitting around the house. Couple that with resistance training and cardio and you could bump it up to 3. Hope this helps.

[EDIT] Yes, but if you don't consume food on a regular basis, your metabolism will drop significantly and you will balloon the second you start to eat again.

If you were to lose two pounds a week, you'd lose 8 pounds in one month. If you were to lose one pound a week, you'd lose 4 pounds in one month. This is the most healthy way to lose weight.

Of course, you'd have to burn more calories than you ate, and excercise for about 30 minutes every day. Sure, it will take awhile but it is the healthiest way to do so. Losing an extreme amount of weight in a short amount of time is dangerous to you and your health.

I have lost 12 pounds already, but I don't count calories. I just don't eat much sugar, and excercise 30 minutes daily. To me, counting calories is way too time consuming.

Follow this, and you can lose about 30 pounds in 3-4 months.

that is impossible, maybe in like six months, but two months, no. Just eat healthy and eat in good portions, like here is an example:
breakfast: cup egg whites
1 serving of oatmeal
snack:
Apple
Lunch: serving of soup
piece of whole grain bread

Snack: a cup of beans and some salsa
Dinner: half a chicken breast
steamed broccolli
Snack: Large apple

if you do something like that, just mix it up, add nuts or whatever you like, and you will lose weight without even trying, and the best part is it will stay off

you wont like hearing this, but you wont do it in a month. and please dont even THINK about dieting, in the long run you will have to be on the diet pretty much the rest of your life because your body gets used to whatever you feed it, and when you go off the diet you will gain weight. what you need to do is eat healthy and exercise , regularly. i know thats what everybody says, but trust me, theres a reason why everyone says it.
stop eating fast food, fatty foods, sweets, and soft drinks. a tiny bit is ok, but not a lot. eat plenty of vegetablles and fruits, switch from white bread to whole grain, and have protein (meat, cheese, milk). eat when your hungry, not when your bored, and stop when your satisfied (NOT when your stuffed).
as for exercise, try running or walking. or if you dont feel like going outside simply do jumping jacks. anything to keep you moving. swimming is also great. i dance, and let me tell you, if you sign up for dance lessons, you will be in better shape than you have ever been in.
i know its probably not the answer you were looking for, but i promise, the weight will be gone!

you can't lose that much weight in that amount of time and stay healthy. eat right, drink water, exercise every day. you can lose 2 or 3 pounds a week.

tell yourself you don't need to constantly eat food , do exersizes but try to convince ur body it ain't an exersize (cuz they usually reject to that idea), & maybe try that Slim Fast Hunger Control thing. But honestly, u really shouldn't lose more than maybe 10-15 lbs. a month. it could get out of control un-healthy!

Liposuction or amputation.

There is no healthy way to lose that much weight in only a month.
