Wow... that's an ancient thought.

They USED to "say" that an 18 year old could give alcohol to people in school, you know like 17, 16, etc. would ALL have it if it were 18. That's a pretty good argument, HOWEVER I think it should be 19 for EVERYTHING, military, alcohol, marriage, etc. make it 19... done.

Fair question. True, it is a double standard made necessary by the overwhelming immaturity of 18-20 year olds, with regard to alcohol use, since the dawn of time.

Because there are laws that limit the drinking age........but in the United States you can vote when you're 18, so why don't all you 18-20 year olds get out there and change the laws?

Studies have shown that raising the drinking age hasn't reduced underage drinking.

There is no good reason why people who are old enough to marry, adopt children, serve as legal guardians for minors and purchase firearms from authorized dealers, and are trusted with the vote and military responsibilities, shouldn't be trusted to drink responsibly, with proper preparation.

I heard this argument about 1969 but it had as much to do with Viet Nam than boozing it up. Just an argument kids use now and then. Some states allow it as young as 18 so you cant be too general.

Because they are stupid when they get drunk and want to fight.

I'm in the ARMY and I think that people in the Service should be allowed to drink. The only place in the ARMY that drinking is allowed from 18 above is @ Fort Bliss, Texas.

But LAW is the LAW and we should respect it.

Good question, why aren't people 18-20 active politically to change the rules, or help stop the Iraq war.
