Fettuchini Alfredo with grilled chicken, brocoli, garlic bread sticks, white wine, for desert white chocolate mousse with strawberrys. It is filling, taste great, but looks and feels like your eating light, which lowers her guard. This one always worked for me and it's easy and quick, have fun.

Edit: start off with a ceaser salad.

Several good answers already posted. Back in the day (haven't had a new girlfriend to cook for in awhile), I always got good reviews with orange glazed game hens. Not hard to cook (Basically I take the game hen, stuff it with a cooked wild rice mixture like Uncle Bens, sprinkle on some garlic powder and or Montreal seasoning, roast at about 325 for about an hour (to around 170 internal temp), basting with a mixture of butter and OJ. Add a side salad and a bottle or 2 of wine and you're good to go. Maybe pick up some movies you both might enjoy.

On the plus side it is also a lot less expensive than the traditional movie and a pizza, not to mention more comfortable ;-)~

Make something that you've already made a lot of times. Never practice cooking on a new friend. This isn't the time to go for exotic. Stick with what you know.

The fact that you made the effort to cook for her will go a long way. As a woman, I can see we're impressed when a man makes the effort. Even hamburgers are fine if it's something you do well.

You could put your energy on the atmosphere. Candles, fresh flowers, nice napkins.. the good ones, not the ones you have left over from your Taco Bell meal. It's the effort and thoughtfulness that count with most women. Good luck!

If I were you I'd do something that's quick and easy but at the same time very tasty, either a stirfry or a pasta dish

Stir-fried Chicken with Lime and Coconut

2 Traditional Free Range boneless, skinless chicken breasts
grated zest and juice 1 large lime
5 fl oz (150 ml) tinned coconut milk
1 dessertspoon olive oil
1 green chilli, deseeded and finely chopped
1 dessertspoon Thai fish sauce
4 heaped tablespoons fresh coriander leaves
4 spring onions, cut into 1 inch (2.5 cm) shreds, including the green parts
First of all chop the chicken into bite-sized pieces and place them in a bowl with the lime juice and zest. Stir well and leave them to marinate for an hour. When you're ready to cook the chicken, heat the oil in the pan or wok over a high heat, add the chicken pieces and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes, until they're golden. Then add the chilli, stir-fry for 1 more minute, and add the coconut milk, fish sauce and half the coriander and spring onions. Cook for another 1-2 minutes, then serve with Thai fragrant rice and the remaining coriander and spring onions sprinkled over.

or Spaghetti alla Carbonara

8 oz (225 g) dried spaghetti
5 oz (150 g) smoked pancetta, cubed or sliced
2 large eggs, plus 2 extra yolks
1½ tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
4 tablespoons Pecorino Romano, finely grated, plus extra to serve
4 tablespoons double cream
freshly milled black pepper

First of all, cook the pasta. Meanwhile, heat the olive oil in a frying pan and fry the pancetta until it’s crisp and golden, about 5 minutes. Next, whisk the eggs, yolks, cheese and cream in a bowl and season generously with black pepper.

Then, when the pasta is cooked, drain it quickly in a colander, leaving a little of the moisture still clinging. Now quickly return it to the saucepan and add the pancetta and any oil in the pan, along with the egg and cream mixture. Stir very thoroughly, so that everything gets a good coating – what happens is that the liquid egg cooks briefly as it comes into contact with the hot pasta. Serve the pasta on really hot deep plates with some extra grated Pecorino.

or Pasta with Tomato and Mozzarella
12 oz (350 g) penne rigate
1 quantity Classic Fresh Tomato Sauce
5 oz (150 g) low-fat Mozzarella, chopped into ¾ inch (2 cm) cubes
a few whole basil leaves, to garnish

Start this by gently re-heating the tomato sauce and putting the pasta on to cook (see How to cook perfect pasta, below). When you are almost ready to eat, stir the cubes of Mozzarella into the warm sauce and let it simmer gently for 2-3 minutes, by which time the cheese will have softened and begun to melt but still retain its identity. Serve the sauce spooned over the drained pasta, sprinkled with the Parmesan and add a few fresh basil leaves as a garnish.

First before you go shopping check that she doesn't have any specific dietary requirements e.g. vegetarian, follower of a particular religion or severely allergic to nuts etc. The last thing you want to do is cook her what you think is a nice meal and end up insulting her or nearly killing her!

Just ask her outright if she has any specific dietary requirements. Not only will this cover your back it will get you in her good books (well, if my fella had asked me this I would've been really chuffed - I've been a veggie for 16yrs so chicken didn't go down to well!).

Fish/seafood is definitely out of the question, for obvious reasons. Just aim for a dish that is fun but easy to make (because if she likes it she'll expect you to cook it for her again!)

Whatever you cook, practice cooking it first. In other words, unless you are sure of how it will turn out, don't fix it. Stick with the tried and true. Also, try to find out what she likes. Salmon is easy but not everybody likes it. Good Luck, you sweet guy!

Sweetie, find out her favorits, her least favorites, and find out if she has any food allergies. think about what your favorite food dish, to cook) and determine is your best cooking item once you've determined she will
enjoy. If you want to do something different with the recipe, try cooking it at least two times for a try run. Your friends will enjoy eating your "trial. But you'll look like you know what you''re doing...because you're prepared
to dazzle her. good luck!!!!!!!

If you're scared of cooking, you can't go wrong with a spaghetti dish. And use real cheese, not that fake stuff. Serve that with garlic cheese bread and a nice green (not iceberg lettuce) salad. If it's your first time cooking for them, I'd keep it simple. You can always really wow her in the future. But spaghetti (either red sauce or white sauce) always goes over well.
