First, I want the younger and naive readers to know something about me, that will really confuse them...I am a very loving and compassionate person who loathes racism.
Now, Ive heard of racists who claim to be good people, but Ive never heard a racist say they hate racism, they always try to say "everyones racist" or quibble over the definition.
Islam is a what....A RELIGION!!! Now...listen close...religion is nothing more than a SUBCATEGORY OF "BELIEF". You wouldnt say "all beliefs are inherently good" would you? You wouldnt say "well, the SS soliders who stuffed jews in ovens were just not applying true Nazism". The reason why you wouldnt say something soooo stupid is because you know that the doctrines of NAZISM were the root cause or source of the problem....right!

Now, why is this verse, and the hundreds of others like it, not also the CAUSE of global Islamic war:
Quran 9:29 “fight (jihad) those who believe not in allah” http://cwis.usc.edu/dept/msa/quran/009.qmt.htm
Its literally insane to simply say "ohh, the Jihadists are misapplying this verse, you see IT DOESNT MEAN WHAT IT LITERALLY SAYS...it means...". WTF!!!

"...I am a very loving and compassionate person who loathes racism"
LOL, Yes Very much !! All of your questions show how much loving you are !!
What about a short trip to the "CONTEXT" of this verse??
would you like to? I wish you may read this and understand it !!Even if you don't then too "never Mind" we are open to bashing ! If you enjoy insulting islam and telling lies, i can just wish you good luck !
Sura 9, so this is revealed when muslims were under attack by Pagan arabs and they were in some agreement of peace with them ..and it just show that when they violate the treaty and attack you then you can attack them !
let me show you ! but please read it all if you realy want to learn these verses...you can't understan quran by just readin one or two verses and that too out of context ! Quran can be understand when you read it in flow !
For Sura 9 see the context of your out of context taken verse!
[9:4] If the idol worshipers sign a peace treaty with you, and do not violate it, nor band together with others against you, you shall fulfill your treaty with them until the expiration date. GOD loves the righteous
9:5] Once the Sacred Months are past, (and they refuse to make peace) you may kill the idol worshipers when you encounter them, punish them, and resist every move they make. If they repent and observe the Contact Prayers and give the obligatory charity , you shall let them go. GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful.
[9:6] If one of the idol worshipers sought safe passage with you, you shall grant him safe passage, so that he can hear the word of GOD, then send him back to his place of security. That is because they are people who do not know
9:12] If they violate their oaths after pledging to keep their covenants, and attack your religion, you may fight the leaders of paganism - you are no longer bound by your covenant with them - that they may refrain
[9:13] Would you not fight people who violated their treaties, tried to banish the messenger, and they are the ones who started the war in the first place? Are you afraid of them? GOD is the One you are supposed to fear, if you are believers
Clear !!
Ahh i doubt it !!but thanx for telling lies about my religion!

No, because there is a time and place for everything. The means and motive by which we spread a message are just as important as the message itself. Furthermore, constantly criticizing someone else may make it easier to ignore our own faults.

No, because I don't feel learned enough to do so and because there are some parts of Middle Eastern and Indian cultures that I find especially beautiful. However, I feel that I can criticize things like FGM (especially if people try to do it in this country) and the cabbies who won't take passengers carrying alcohol.

you're somewhat ranting there (nevertheless you strengthen some interesting factors). yet to respond to your substantial question, no, we would desire to continually on no account hesitate to criticize all people because of the fact we don't "understand their subculture". it is not okay to mutilate youthful females' genitalia, however if this is part of your "subculture". it is not okay to repress people who think of in yet in any different case, even in the experience that your "subculture" says this is. That sort of habit is incompatible with a functioning pluralistic society, and could purely deliver humanity lower back to the dark a while. If what somebody is doing is inaccurate, this is incorrect. "basically following subculture", basically like "basically following orders", is on no account an excuse.

All I know is, the word "Islam" means "peace".
And the Muslims I've met are awesome people.
No I don't agree with the religion, but I'm not about to bash it because some idiot terrorists are tarnishing the reputation.

Personally, I'm not going to pay any attention to any religion that promotes killing other folks for what they do or
don't believe. I guess I can't belong to any religion. All of them have a violent history.

I don't criticize it every chance I get because that's not nice. As for the jihad thing, I recall something like that in the Bible.

I have no need to criticize Islamic culture. I am not of it, so it is not mine to undermine. Besides, God wants us to view all as potential Christians: even muslims and Muslims (you should know the difference by now).
besides, they aren't my enemy. love the sinner, hate the sin. I don't like that they reject God, but how they live is their choice.

Islam is a violent religion : people continously provoke people of other religions in the name of Islam, attack innocent people in the name of islam .
Islam has given muslims the rights to :
have multiple wives;
kill non-believers; and
lie in the name of religion
