I met a guy about a month ago, and we became really close really quickly. We live quite far away so we keep in contact by phone and email etc, but it's getting a bit much now cos he contacts me religiously every day, and if he texts me for example, and I don't reply the whole day, he'll send another.

I also know that he fancies me, but he doesn't know that I know. I only like him as a friend.

The problem is just that - I do like him as a friend, and have also arranged to see him in a couple of months as he invited me to this really expensive party (so I can't really back out), but he's kinda freaking me out with the constant calls etc.

I don't know what to do because I would like to still stay friends (at least until the party!!) but I'm being really pressured by him. Is there any nice way of hinting that I want him to back off a bit???

Just to clear this up - I'm not saying I only want to be friends with him until the party just because I want to go to the party!!!!!!!! It's because I've paid a lot of money for it and I also feel bad letting him down if I tell him I can't come.

try giving subtle hints like leaving short replies to his messages, and be like waaaaaaaaaaay late to the party.
try dressing rly casually and just be subtle. aftrer the party, ask him if he likes you as more than a afriend. if her says yes, tell him that u still wanna be friends, but nothing more.

No.

For someone that wants to be friends you are not being a good one. You are lying and using him. Some friend you are...not.

Tell him the truth now, not later. He doesn't want to be your friend, if you were a good girl you would tell him the truth about how you feel now. I'm sure he won't appreciate you using him knowing how he feels, only to change the facts after you get what you want.

Just how selfish can a person get?

Well, you could try just not responding to anything he does for like 3 days. You could go the honest route and let him know that while you're flattered by his attention, it's coming on a bit too strong for you. You could simply let him know he should find another date for this party. Or, you could ignore him altogether. Honesty is the best policy, so you know what my personal choice is, but it's up to you.

This may be some bad advice but, hold on to him. That's the kind of man we all want. Someone who adores you. If you don't want him, tell him to holla at me. LOL. Enjoy being catered to.
