Ok, from my observations, there are 3 common types of Christians:
1. Those who leave those of other religions alone
2. Those who worry about Hell and will tell their close friends/family members about Jesus in hopes of saving them, but hope God will still send them to Heaven or have mercy on them or whatever
3. Those that are crazed about coverting people. You know the kind.

My question is, how does one get from Step 2 to Step 3?
Are there certain personalities that just like to boss others around that are more likely to be the third type of Christian? Or does something happen to them in their head to make them obsessed with converting others?

Jesus did not make converting people his main thesis. But these third type of Christians take it upon themselves to. Why do you think that is?

They just go overboard in their zeal of what they have found and don't know when to stop! I think its called badgering! They want to share the goodness of God's loving mercy. Unfortunatley, they usually end up turning people off!

Jesus' main work on earth was to bring about reconciliation to the father -- and healing those who needed it.

Most Evangelists do nothing more than preach to the choir and blow smoke to get more money out of them. I know all but two of the ones on TV day and have met them personally in their offices. I would not trust any of them with their dime, much less mine.

Religion is a very sensitive topic and screaming to people on how to avoid hell is not the way to convert anyone. It does little good for Paul Crouse to stand there, or sit there, with his wife and her three colored hair. He is wearing very expensive clothes, driving a big car, has places all over the US and more money than the US mint, but he is preaching for a Christ who had nothing - had to rent a donkey to get into Jerusalem.

With those that demonstrate a great amount of wealth, and basically they all do, that is a psychology of religion thing that comes down through Calvin. Luther said you could be called to be anything. Prior to Luther, the calling was only ecclesiastical to be a monk, priest, or nun - after Luther, you could be called to be a plumber. Calvin stretched that a bit further and stated that if you were truly working in the field tht God had planned for you, it would be made obvious through material wealth. So that is why when you go to the Church of God HG in Cleveland, Tennessee, you see a long line of big expensive cars and you meet men in Armani suits wearing Rolex watches.

If one feels the need to "evangelize," screaming at a group of listeners will get him nowhere. However, living a Christ like life, helping others, feeding the hungry and clothing the poor, act rather than words, will cause people to ask "what do you have that I don't"

I think it gives them something to do. It creates a sense of urgency and importance. People like that. It's kind of like the y2k thing was -- if the end of the world is at hand, everyone gets excited.

The psychological process differs from person to person, just like anything else. Refraining from unkind speech evolves from altruism.
