Hi, I have been planning my daughters 1st birthday party. It was just going to be cake and icecream and a small barbeque with family and friends. Now my sister is coming from texas who I have not seen in 2 years, and can only stay for the weekend. I now have quite a bit of family that is going to attend, (and still all the friends. Any ideas on how I can make it enjoyable for everyone (probably 40-50 guests) there are only gonna be a few children all under 2.

one small idea that worked at my son's 1st was very simple and the smaller kids love it. if you have a ceiling fan somewhere take streamers that are the same length (a little bit shorter than the length from one fan blade to another) and tape them to the top side of each blade near the end...when you turn the fan on low it looks like a pinwheel...my kids loved the different colors and it entertained them longer than i ever could have imagined.

Hie Leti. Well in my suggestion for a 1 year old birthday kids it is better to call for a popular clown in your town and which is cheap too. As for the adults maybe you can have some enterteinment like having some nice soft music which they have a few dance section after the cake cutting ceremony and while they are having their meals they can also enjoy by playing some adult games like put some 15 chairs and start passing a package whereby play a music and when the music stops the person who opens it they have to do something from what they got like dancing with a guy or girl who he loves so much then after doing so try to pass that particular package and when it comes to an end you may write there as a present. Try to have a soft drink competiton of like who dink all 5-10 cups of soft drinks in certain time. Maybe this could help you to make more entertainment for the adults....

hope this will be the best answer.......

all the best and I would like to wish your daughter Many More Returns Of the Day and May God Bless her Alot......

I agree this is greater for adults yet that doesn't recommend the infants will not be able to have some entertainment. in basic terms have some food and perhaps a movie for the infants. Then have the toddler open presents and then she'll have a blast together with her new toys.

keep it simple...the party is really for the parents anyway. I had a short but long table with crayons and coloring books from the dollar store for the kids and cookie decorating pin the tail on the donkey, bubbles....there's many things but keep it simple, you wan to enjoy your daughters birthday and the fact that it's her first but certainly not last. there will be YEARS of birthdays to get over the top entertainment! enjoy the "lower costing" birthdays while they last!

entertainment really isn't necessary. just make sure you have good food, stuff for the kids to do,some music and a camera. the rest will take care of itself. i'm sure your sister would rather talk to you and the family anyway. have a great time.
