I've never heard that one before. All the superstitions surrounding weddings are just that: superstitions and aren't true. When I got married, I decided to break all them since I've known many people who followed them and ended up getting a divorce.

I don't think looking at yourself in the mirror in your wedding gown will give you years of bad luck. When I got married, we also followed some customs, tradition and beliefs that is said to ward off bad luck or evil spirits. The bride and groom are not allowed to see each other the day before the wedding. The groom should not see the bride in her wedding dress (therefore cannot help in picking it out) anytime other than the ceremony itself.
Good luck on your wedding. I suggest just follow whatever advise you feel most comfortable in. It anything makes you feel awkward, and you don't really believe in it, following it is not a good idea.

I know it is said to be bad luck if your groom sees you in your dress before the wedding. But I have never heard of what you're talking about. I wouldn't worry about it, seems a bit silly.
Oh and - everyone has their own opinions and advice ... and it's just that ... their own ... haha.

I have never heard that. I think that with most of those saying it is bad luck only because you believe it is and send out negative energy. It makes ya nervous and bad stuff happens. What bride wouldn't look in the mirror when in her dress??

I personally have never heard such a thing, but I'm sure someone somewhere believes it is bad luck. The question is, do you, yourself, believe this nonsense? I don't think you can possibly avoid every single thing that has ever been considered bad luck by someone somewhere. So, just ignore the b/s, and make use of traditions that are truly meaningful to YOU. Congrats.

I heard that you are just not supposed to look at yourself in all your bridal stuff before the wedding day, so in dress fittings etc I would just leave off a piece of jewelery or something, but on the day its a good idea to check yourself to make sure your don't forget anything,
Try not to listen to all the superstitious stuff thought, most of it is contradictory, just do what you want to do and be happy !

Never heard that one either, but I've been happily married for over 8 years and I looked in the mirror on my wedding day in my dress and I did ok, so did my sister married over 12 years, so did my mom married over 43 years.

I think it would be bad luck if you didn't check yourself. You could end up down the aisle with your dress tucked into your hosiery. There are some pretty sadistic people out there who get their kicks watching other people look stupid on their wedding day.
