They're not just here for show. Art can raise our level of consciousness and teach us empathy. You don't cry from watching a movie and learn nothing from it.

Of course, but where do you think those morals are derived from... It is religion.

yeah, yeah yeah...you have a point...but another point needs to be included in your statement. If you look at art, say, a movie, and it teaches empathy, it may also teach undesirable things as well...such as the movie Geisha. I bought it trusting a preview that stated it was showing the consequences of actions. Well...it did...sort of....and it did get my emotions going...but it also did NOT teach that prostitution has consequences. In fact, the entire truth of the main character was supposed to be that she was "meant to be" a Geisha. How ridiculous! So....while I do agree with you about the arts, and how we can learn from them.....I also believe that we must really weed through it. And be VERY careful to let our children be absorbed in the "messages." Ya know? Now, I'm a Christian, so I am speaking from my perspective. But you don't have to be a believer of Christ (although everyone should) to understand that SOME messages in today's films and performances are less than desirable for ourselves and our children.

Yes, indeed a lot of morals are taught this way. The authors of these films get their inspiration from the same place as religious leaders do but without preaching any religion in the process.

Are you kidding me? Yes you can. If I put a mint in a pile of horse poop, it is still horse poop. A corny little moral at the end of a spiritually and morally bankrupt movie doesn't change the fact that the movie is hollow.

Non-religious ideals... like what as an occasion? paintings ethic- that is not abuse- it incredibly is merely making specific they know the thank you to maintain a job as quickly as they have one. Integrity- back, not abuse- merely making specific their lives are in solidarity with their ideals (regardless of those ideals would be) know- merely coaching them the thank you to win and keep buddies...... i don't see how coaching my perception equipment to my newborn is abuse. as quickly as the youngster is sufficiently old to choose what to have self assurance, then there continues to be the priority of kinfolk regulations, traditions, and expectancies. If attending religious centers is a area and parcel, then the youngster is going to would desire to attend till he's 18 to prepare his ideals as he sees in good shape. i in my opinion observed this turning out to be up. the place i presumed, accompanied and enjoyed the prepare and straightforward traditions of religion in our homestead, 2 of my brothers did not. there have been cases they felt great desire to not attend centers, yet mom and pa informed them they had back. replaced into that abuse? i'm uncertain. Will I do a similar while i'm a ascertain and if my toddlers choose yet another direction? i don't think of so, yet i don't know. i know that now that those 2 brothers are the two adults (over 25), they have each and each made their own alternatives. One has back to what he replaced into taught as a newborn. the different has chosen, um... enable's call it "individuality" ;) ...

I watch the old movies and the Hallmark Channel for that very reason. However, most modern movies I wouldn't let my dog watch them. The Lord is cursed for no apparent reason. Women go naked for no apparent reason. Explicite sex scenes for no apparant reason. Try renting a family movie for Saturday night.

Most films try to teach some morals (whether we agree with them or not) - some simplistic some deep. It's what makes us remember them.
