I just relized that it's only the Americans whose majority denies evolution. Outside America, everyone relatively accepts evolution as fact.

So why America?

Can you provide any tangible, compelling evidence that bolsters this claim? Or, is this based on hearsay and/or your opinion.

I invite you to provide this evidence as a hyperlink addition to your original question so that we may all learn from you.

i think your question is misled. First, the problem in America is the teaching of evolution in public schools. This is a major point of contention among the primarily Christian public. So, you hear about it a lot more. In other countries, there are probably just as many people that do not accept evolution as fact. You probably just don't hear about it.

Good question.

American Christianity is also the most far removed from historical Christianity, and the nation ranks below the top ten with regard to freedom, has an educational system that ranks below some third-world countries, and has some of the least informative media distributions. There may be a connection...

It's not completely true.

Iceland is the world leader. 89% of their population accepts Evolution as a fact.

The USA, with 37% actually beats Turkey (36%). Awesome, eh?

Dawkins theorized in the "God Delusion" that USA, beings it was made of immigrants, the people had no real connection to the land and to a certain extent other people who were also immigrants. So without patriotic ties to the land and fewer country-men to share there traditions with they turned to god and religion as a common form of unity. So with religion and creationism so well ingrained in American life, it is not surprising that so few believe in evolution.

I didn't know that we were alone with the creation thing, but I think the reason is because we've got such an historical background in religion (I wish everyone would get a grip and look at the scientific evidence. Facts are facts.)

Because it is written in the Poetic Eddas that Odin created the heavens and the earth from the body of the slain frost-giant, Ymir. That means it's Absolute Truth, because it was written down a long time ago.

Chock full of religious nuts. Coming to a new land people had no family and the church got quite a foothold as it was the only community a lot of people had. Then I think the red scare and Communism let the nutters push the religious agenda a little too far and we never recovered.
