Not at all, as you know. Absence of belief is not equal to belief of absence.

Well, firstly you can't possibly know everything about how the world works. Atheistic scientists, who claim to know everything, are constantly coming up with some new discoveries that refute their previous ones. Secondly, have you really did some soul-searching, looked into your heart introspectively to understand why is the concept of God impossible for you? Progress and knowledge start with asking sincere questions.

HoundOHolde - have you really studies the teachings of all religions that you claim "they believe that all religions are fake...except for theirs". Vedic teachings, represented in the West by the Hare Krishna movement, teach that all religions come from one source and are authentic, as long as they are coming in disciplic succession originating from God Himself.

No you do not.

Lots of scientist are very busy trying to find out more about how the world and the universe work. Who knows if they will ever find all the answers.

Part of being an atheist is being able to say "I don't know." It is the religious people who need an answer for everything, even if it is a vague as GodDidIt.

The question people need to ask is not "Why disbelieve?" but "Why believe?"

Just when I thought I knew everything, you go and ask a question like this. Whatever you think is ok with you I'm fine with. If you claim atheism I believe you.

No you don't. It seems that some people among the religious believe that science should work like their faith and explain everything in one go and because it does not it is somehow inferior.
But that's like saying an apple is inferior for not tasting like an orange. Science is (like the organisms it often studies) evolving. It can't explain the world in one go but we learn a little more each day.

~~~ bett,,,, To be one of us, you don't even have to know Jack. Personally, "the concept of god" ( a Religious Supreme Being), is impossible to me too, hence my atheism. Remember that if you live in a "free country" ANY-thing you want to believe in is "OK".
Atheism is a lack of belief in gods. Without credible evidence to justify a belief in gods, atheism is the only logical choice.
> Do I have to know everything about how the world works to claim atheism?
Nope. I have a sports watch. I don't know all about how it works. I don't even know how to use all its functions. Despite my ignorance, my sports watch appears to work just fine.
Naw. The idea of requiring Absolute Knowledge to reject extremist spiritual beliefs is bull. They believe in Absolute Truth. You might believe in science, trial and error, and always looking for more evidence. They stopped looking a long time ago and now sit around promoting their Truth and attacking anyone who won't buy their shoddy goods. Just to let you know how messed up they really are: they believe that all religions are fake...except for theirs. I think it's logical to conclude the spiritual either exists or it doesn't. They think it exists, but only for them.
I'd say your way is just fine, but some people can lard every philosophy over, even a simple one like atheism, with more and more agendas.
If you knew everything about how the world works I would call you God.
