the markings essentially stay the same however they may become darker and more defined which means there may be markings that are too light to see right now. aslo occasionally they can have markings come out for example my manx cat boo was all black she now has a few white hairs apearing around her neck

Cats usually do keep the same markings they are born with. although the shape or color may tend to change, the mark they were born with will always be there. Now the weird thing that may be a concern is if the mark completely changes to something else. Then you may need to go to the vet to get that checked out.

newborn just in your yard? Is the eyes open and ears open? or is it just a kitten? If its a newborn like 1 day old its crying cause its hungry and abandoned. Kittens are normally born in a den and warm dark place, not the middle of a yard. Mom either got scared and dropped the kitten while moving her litter, or a predator accidently dropped it while taking it off. I would take it to a shelter where someone can raise it and bottle feed it. Its calling out for its mother actually. If its a young kitten then its probably lost and looking for food and shelter. Oh its in the house with you? are you bottle feeding it? a newborn has to eat every 3 hours, your probably not feeding it enough. What are you feeding it.

when i got my kitten he had almost Siamese markings, he had black legs, tail and head and the rest of his body was gray but now he's completely black. i know that might just fall into the category of the fur getting darker, but essentially his markings changed in the sense that all his fur is now the same color. i have another kitten who was gray with some very faint calico spots which have now become a lot bigger and more defined and are continuing become more prominent.

I'm pretty sure they stay the same. One of my kitties was almost pure white with very pale markings when she was a kitten. Now that she's older, she's much much darker, but still has the same marks.

They do keep relatively the same markings, or "patterns."
Besides Ragdoll kittens, who are born completely white and you don't even know what kind of kitten you have until they are a couple weeks old.
Although tabbies will acquire new stripes or swirls as they grow and calicos will most likely gain more splashes of color, they should stay remotely the same.

yes normally they do keep the same markings although both of my black and white cats seem to have more white as they grow older in proportion to their black

Sometimes they will develop slight changes in their color but for the most part they stay the same.
