"The problem with the Army is that they are here to fight and it's all about combat power when it's no longer that kind of a war," says a US military officer stationed in Iraq and who is critical of many aspects of the Baghdad security plan.

Whats the point of pissing off the iraqis and losing soldiers when the civil war will continue with or without the United States occupation.

There is no question that the number of Iraqi civilians killed at the hands of US troops is a mere fraction of those falling every day to car bomb and suicide attacks. But when Iraqis do get caught in American crossfire for whatever reason, those deaths, and the often confusing aftermath of investigations and the paperwork for compensation, only serve to fuel the anger and animosity of Iraqis toward US troops.

It isn't about that. It's about giving Islam a chance to overthrow their dictators and to undermine Islam's plans for the rest of the world.

Our family escaped Islam in the 1950's. We've expected this war for decades. We're surprised someone had the guts to face it before Islam was ready for them.

The civil war you speak of has been going on since LONG before the U.S. invaded Iraq (for centuries) over who is the rightful heirs of Muhammed's lineage.

We aren't pissing them off. Some of them are doing the same thing the seditious people in our country are doing; trying to undermine the United States for their own ends.

We've planted the seeds. Even if we leave, they can't stop it.
