robert has pretty much explained it.. first you need to become a Canadian citizen..(three years of legal residency before you can apply) once you apply it is a lengthy process because this department is severly backlogged due to high immigration as a result of the tragedy with the Indonesian tsunami. Once you are a Canadian citizen then you would have to apply for the police force.. and once you've had some experience with the regular municipal or provincial police... then you can apply for the RCMP.. it will be years before you can become a part of the RCMP.

To be a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police you must be:
a Canadian citizen
of good character
19 years of age
possess a valid driver's licence
be able to meet the physical qualifications
If you are simply interested in being a Canadian police officer, other police forces like Calgary Police Service and Edmonton Police Service don't require the citizenship part.

I heard of a story where an off-duty Jamaican police officer raped a girl then shot and killed her boyfriend from NYC. I'll be skipping the Jamaican tour. Maybe after a background check; on second thought go for it.

You would firstly have to become a Canadian citizen (a lengthy process which includes residency - we're talking about five years before you become an actual citizen), then you'd have to apply like everybody else and go through all the ordinary motions (tests, interviews, the whole thing).
