Obviously it doesn't apply to everyone but I have just noticed a lot of you are going to hell and all that. While I respect Jesus's teaching I don't follow them. I don't understand how people can get upset because people bash thier faith but are perfectly willing to bash others?

I respect Jesus in that for the most part he preached faith and love. He was willing to die for what he believed in and I can respect that. I do not believe he was God persay, but I respect someone who was in earnest trying to make the world a better place.

And following Christianity is not disrespectful, its a choice. A choice that I and everyone else in the world has the right to. You might not see that as offensive, but I assure you it is. Its hurtful to be judged as "evil" when my faith actually preaches balance, love and peace.

Your point is well taken. Christians OUGHT to follow Jesus' example...Jesus always showed unconditional love and unconditional respect for all. The latter part is something that is oft overlooked by many Christians.
To quote M. Ghandi:
"I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ."

If you respect Jesus' teachings why don't you follow them?
Does that mean you steal, murder & hate your "neighbor"?
I bet you follow more of Jesus' teachings then you realize.
To infer that ALL Christians are offended when people bash thier faith is ignorant.
It wasn't the Christians burning Paris because someone put thier religious leader in a cartoon.
Get real.

Yes I have noticed that too. Also these same "Christians" respond to everyone with swearing, name calling, assessments of your life, as if they know who you really are by asking a question. Some even twist the question you ask to these so called Christians back at you and say your question is wrong. You are wrong about everything if you are NOT A Christian. Expect to be bashed when you have an attitude like that.

I agree. It's one of those "You can dish it but can't take it" sort of things. I too respect the teachings of Jesus Christ, but do not follow his teachings as the Word of God. They can't seem to put themselves in our shoes and feel what we feel when they condemn us. For all anyone knows, they are the ones who will go to hell for perverting the teachings of Jesus Christ. He taught to love and respect others, not play God and start condemning people to hell. It's very un-christian of them to think they are higher and mightier than everyone else. That is why Christians are given a bad name. People like that ruin it for the rest of them.

not following Jesus' teachings would be disrespectful. and saying "that's wrong" isn't bashing. purposely belittling others about their faith, swearing at the believers or their beliefs, or making harsh judgements on a people's belief is bashing.
if I've done so, I apologize, thought I can't recall doing so.

Jill, the Bible says the true Christian will be mocked, ridiculed and belittled for their faith in Jesus. I pray my words never come across as "bashing" to anyone, but real and loving.
Question: How can you "respect" Jesus and his teachings, when he said that if you do not follow Him, accept and repent, you are going to hell for all eternity? How can you "respect" a person who claimed to be the living God?
I think you have some confusion about who Jesus is....
Also, if a Christian references Scripture and says that the Bible says the unsaved will be lost for eternity - then your issue is with the God of the Bible, not with the individual Christian.
Thanks for the question and I welcome all questions, comments, insults, etc.

Well those that think christianity is the only one true belief are not willing to show tolerance to other beliefs and feel free to proselytize and arm twist as their religion tells them to gain converts; but then they cry foul when others question the cornerstone of their beliefs and get all upset.

Maybe 'we' (all users of Y R&S) need to 'watch out for ourselves', help others, and not worry about 'bashing' others faiths currently now and in the future here.

LOL...it really is a case of "You started it!" "Christians" get offended - and feel persecuted! - when you suggest that they keep their nutty ideas to themselves; but chief among their nutty ideas is that you're going to burn for all eternity because you refuse to group-think with them!
The problem, you see, is that we live in a secular society in which we can opt out of the Cult if we happen to find it crude and barbaric and superstitious. In the old days, we had no choice but to comply; when dissenters reared their heads, they were burned at the stake. "Christians" would really prefer that we went back to that practice; but since we haven't, they must content themselves with rhetorical burning of their enemies.
P.S. - since "Mike A" invited insults - I really have to respond to this:
"If a Christian references Scripture and says that the Bible says the unsaved will be lost for eternity - then your issue is with the God of the Bible, not with the individual Christian."
That's a good one. It's as if I told "Mike A" that I've been reading the Egyptian Book of the Dead, and that if he doesn't know and recite the prayer called the "Declaration of Innocence" when he dies, he'll be shut out of the Realm of the Blessed - and when he objects, I shut him up with "Look, your problem is with Osiris, not me!" It's the "Don't kill the messenger" excuse on a cosmic scale.
Then there's the guy who says that everybody who doesn't steal, murder, and hate his neighbor is following the teachings of Jesus. Well, no! He's simply refraining from stealing, murdering, and hating his neighbor! You might just as well argue that everybody who wears sandals is trying to dress like Jesus.
