I have been a volunteer at a ministy for quite some time now. I work 3 days a week 4 hours each day for free, I clean the sanctuary, work with the homeless and help lower income familys with out side resources. Today, I was at work working in the childrens closet organizing clothes and putting away donations, I came across 3 nice pairs of boy pants that a friend of mine could very much use for her little boy, her husband recently died and is struggling, I was going to put the clothes in my car when I was stopped by a regular paid employer who asked did i get permission to take these items
I told her well I didnt think I need to do that because when i first started the minister told me i was welcomed to take things, whatever to that anyway I said I will go ask, the minister who said I could was not there so I had asked the finacial adviser, not expecting a problem, well I was wrong, she stated no one was allowed to take there donations I was shocked

that sucks. Why didn't u ask to put it aside tell u spoke to the minister. And stay in the ministry, that was only a Petty problem, the work u do there is greater. OR find another ministry to work in.

I don't believe that they believed you would steal, however I do believe that they could have handled that differently. While your motives were pure, not everyone's are, and they may be trying to prevent a problem of people who are not in need taking things.. if you were told by the minister that you were welcome to some things then you need to address this with him, and get it resolved to avoid any hard feelings, forgive the people who treat you badly, and remember that not everyone who proclaims to be a Christian is living according to God's word. However, don't let them interfere with your ministry, you are there for a reason!! I hope this helps you and I am praying for your friend and her children!!!

maybe a little embarrassed? I would say go talk to the minister who told you first. Office help do not understand charity as much as protecting their job. They also worry about making the wrong decision.

Are you serious? Why would you be shocked? I think it would be just plain wrong to let the volunteers take things that were donated to help those in need. That is just wrong.

If your friend needed the things, she should go and ask for them herself.
