my friend made a very yummy dish at my house this weekend. it contains cabbage, pork sausage, and egg noodles..it tasted kind of bland, so i added some seasoned bread crumbs, and it made it taste a whole lot better! the problem is, the mixture is kind of dry. what should i use to add flavor and help keep it moist? i've thought about using kielbasa instead of ground sausage, does that sound like it would taste better?

My family has made variations of this over the years. I call my variation a polish stir fry. My favorite is with kielbasa. I slice a large onion, 1/2 head of cabbage, 1/2 pound kielbasa. I put in about 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil and start sauteing the onion and cabbage together. I add salt and pepper and celery seed. When it has cooked down and the cabbage is almost tender, I add about a 1/2 cup water and kielbasa and cover the pan. I cook the noodles in salted water on the side, drain and add to the pan. The last time I made it, when it was all together, I stirred in a 1/2 cup regular sour cream. It was good. It kind of reminds you of a pierogi.

I think either keilbasa or pork sausage would be tasty... If you are looking to add flavor to the leftovers you have (if any) - add some garlic (fresh or granulated). A good dose of black pepper would be nice as well. To moisten it up some, I would cut back on the bread crumbs and perhaps add a little butter. Enjoy!
