The Books of 1 & 2 Chronicles cover mostly the same information as 1 & 2 Samuel and 1 & 2 Kings. 1 & 2 Chronicles focus more on the priestly aspect of the time period. The Book of 2 Chronicles is essentially an evaluation of the nation's religious history.
2 Chronicles records the history of the Southern Kingdom of Judah, from the reign of Solomon to the conclusion of the Babylonian exile. The decline of Judah is disappointing, but emphasis is given to the spiritual reformers who zealously seek to turn the people back to God. Little is said about the bad kings or of the failures of good kings; only goodness is stressed. Since 2 Chronicles takes a priestly perspective, the Northern Kingdom of Israel is rarely mentioned because of her false worship and refusal to acknowledge the Temple of Jerusalem. 2 Chronicles concludes with the final destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple.

Go to biblegateway.com and look up 2nd Chronicles in the Message version, Amplified version, and the New International Version. There are also great commentaries on that site that break down the meanings in the bible. Lastly, Chronicles is a book tha chronicles the generations that lived and died in order to connect the lineage of Jesus Christ and other prophets and kings in biblical times.

The book of 2 Chronicles is mainly a historical record of the nation of Israel. It backs up the history in 2 Samuel. I believe the main reason it's in the Bible is because it shows how God has preserved His chosen people throughout the ages.

As confusing as it may seem Just Keep Reading~as for this book it,s like the reading of a family tree,in chronological order.
In the Bible you will also read:"The way/path to Heaven is narrow and The way/path to Hell is wide."
I was studing/thinking about Global warming/and later found in the New Tesament were it said:That in the last days "Hell would be increased in size."Maybe due to all those that will take the 'wide path' and not even realize it.Just continue reading and ask for understanding .God did say ask and you will be given.[Although I think many exspect that when They ask that GoD instantly answer. He does things on his time schedule not ours He may want us to learn something along the way!]

Haha, yes, its a tough read. But once you get through the first...oh...13 chapters or so, you get past the family trees.

But I hope you catch the short little aside about Jabez - his prayer has influenced many Christian lives.

Basically, its theme seems to be is that when the king and people repent of sin and turn to God, the nation prospers; when it refuses to do so, the nation suffers.
