Swearing on the bible is a fantasy put forward by 1950s Hollywood. In the real world, no one is required to swear on a bible. If you tell the bailiff you're atheist, he will give you a civil oath, leaving off the "So help me God" part.

they don't put their right hand on the Bible in court they ask then do they swear to tell the truth and that's it. technically they can still lie in court because they didnt swear on the bible. but who really tells the truth in court any way.

Yes, I can remember hearing about an athiest who swore to tell the truth with his right hand on a banana. I'll see if I can find the article.

Even the bible says don't swear on the bible or on god but to let your yes be yes and your no be no.

I don't know about Jews specifically, but I do know that several religions, including Islam, are fighting to get their holy books legal status.

Last time I was in court, we were asked to "swear or affirm", no holy book. =0)

They don't use books anymore. They just ask you to swear to tell the truth.

no, same with a witch they dont get a book of shadows out. Its just that christioanity is the main religion so they use that
