... on behalf of myself (even though I have never spoken ill of you - but just in case) and on behalf of all self-righteous folks (all religions included) who claim that just because you don't beleive in God you don't have morals at all? I think that's BIGGEST lie ever invented!

Note: I know I'm not a spokeswoman and nobody appointed me to say this, but I just feel like it.

Peace :)

Oltm - something: you're just creating a deeper gap by thinking that way. Somebody has to make a first step.

A kind message on the R & S boards? My eyes deceive me surely :) Thanks, your message was like a breath of fresh air.

And to the user named FISH: Yes, someone you would right off as morally bankrupt was a bigger person than you - let's hope you learn something from it.

Thank you for your sincere apology. If I ever offended you, I apologize in turn. Thank you for taking the first step. You just gave me a reason to learn more about Islamic practices.

p.s. I don't blame you or your religion for the actions of others or their religions. I actually agree that if any of the big three religions is right, it would be Islam, simply because of the fact that there are more of them in the Holy Land than anything else. Who would know better than the people who live there and have all the history at their fingertips?

I never thought atheists couldn't have morals, just that I don't see how a belief in (absolute) morals is consistent with a naturalistic worldview. If there is nothing greater than ourselves, then what makes one person's set of values better than another's? Yet if all sets of value are equally valid, what's the sense in preferring one set over another?
But there's nothing to stop someone from being inconsistent if they so choose.

Apology accepted, sis ;)!
I'm not an atheiest either (I'm Muslim), but very kind and open-minded of you to apologize to them on everyone's behalf. I'm sure a lot of them are shunned by the "God-believing" society just because they don't believe in God. So sad, isn't it? Those who believe in God teach this: "Let there be no compulsion in religion" (Quran, 2:256) and "Speak in a most kindly manner unto those who do not share your beliefs" (Quran, 17-53-54).
Ahh....!!
Peace and blessings of Allah be upon you, and may He have mercy on all of us!

I am a Christian and I agree whole heartedly with you. I actually believe that many of the atheists here are nearer to finding God than the average non-believer. The non-believer just ignores Him. At least the atheists are asking questions and who but God knows what answers are really speaking to them.

PS Whoever Raymond is (above), he most certainly does not speak for all Christians.

I too do not believe in God but I try to follow the 10 commandments. Most are good laws to follow and does give one a set of morals to live by.

Just read Raymond's answer. Typical of a self righteous Christan who can not forgive non believers like Christ did. You'll probably get answers like that from most of the 2 faced religious nuts. You know the type, Believe in MY God or be commuted to hell.

Thank you. Most of us really do try to live moral, useful lives while trying to enjoy the precious time we have, too. It's irritating to have someone who knows nothing about you presume and declare that you CANNOT be moral or live a good life simply because you do not believe the same things they do.

Again, thank you.

Nice Azra !! I appreciate it !

Well telling you the truth.......i found athiest more tolerant and somewhat jolly people.....they take everything with fun and even divert the insult to some funny side......thats something great about them,,,,,,,i never felt anything bad about them rather i appreciate them most of the time.....if they don't believe in God, its their personal and i think every one should be let to live on their own !! "live and let others Live"

Peace be with you Azra darling !!

That is the biggest lie ever. I have morals and not because somebody told me I had to but because I wanted to.

Accepted, with thanks. Moral codes ultimately derive from evolution, which applies to societies as well as to species: a society that lives by a sound moral code will survive preferably to one that does not. Hence, the proper gauge of the morality of a proposed action is: how will it ultimately affect society?

I'll accept your apology for any actions that you may have committed, and please accept mine for anything I may have said out of frustration. But please, do not apologize for the actions of the others. You deserve no blame for their actions, and the fact that you have spoken against those actions speaks volumes about your character. Also, you must keep in mind that there is no single faith whose members make false assumptions about others; every group has such people, including fellow atheists.

Peace to you as well.
