Tomorrow is my Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and I'd like to know what I should eat for breakfast and lunch beforehand to put myself in the best possible scenario for sitting through a 5+ hour exam. I'm vegan so I don't eat any animal products - so if you could recommend some oils, fruits/vegetables, proteins, etc. that'd be great! I'm also open to other tips, I'm sooo nervous!

You're vegan, so that limits your options a bit. I'd go for something like avocado, perhaps some guacamole with some baked crisp pita (rub them with olive oil and sprinkle with dried herbs and pop them in the toaster oven). Hummus is also a good choice. Both are packed with healthy fats so the calories would keep you going.

As far as helping yourself stay calm, try some essential oil of lavender. Dot it on your temples, chest & the back of your neck.

Good luck!

I would recommend anything that is high in protein, kidney beans, almonds, garbanzo beans, tofu, soy milk. Also if you munch on a piece of candy before the test it will raise your blood sugar and help you stay focused, bring some extras for later too. Also Ginkgo is good for your brain =) Don't forget to get lots of sleep too!

The reason fish is so good for the brain is the so-called omega-3 fatty acids it contains. Oily fish, like salmon, sardines, mackerel, herring, bluefish and black cod, are the best sources of those special fats. One of the omega-3s—DHA—is the main constituent of cell membranes in the brain, and a deficiency of it can weaken the brain's architecture and leave it vulnerable to disease.

Protein! Which for you might include baked tofu, edamame, rice crackers and peanut butter, soy cheese, fresh strawberries, blueberries, organic carrots, and non-sugar items. Good luck with your exams!

i recommend you eat for breakfast the same thing you've been eating for breakfast for your practice tests. the real test day is not the day to try anything new. if you smoke, pick a different day to try to quit. if you drink coffee, don't think twice about having a cup.

Grilled Brauts, Steaks, and BBQ Chicken

Flax seed oil, if you eat fish salmon and avocadoes. I also heard that oatmeal balances your sugars and actually helps you learn because your blood sugar is stabilized..

Anything but alcohol or drugs. Smoking does not help either.
A good breakfast, not to heavy. (otherwise you become sleepy)
Good luck.
