..You can be Christian and open minded.. I am... I think. I Would never get an abortion, but will hold the hand of a friend if they needed me to be there if they decided to get one. I can not judge others and worry about what others are doing, besides my children and myself. But I can love others no matter the choices they make.... right or wrong....
War kills too.. I understand your point. We go to war KNOWING we will kill for what ever reason.. to be free.. or to keep allies..... We get abortions for the same reasons... to be free and to keep friends and to live a life we think we should.
I wish that all those having sex would use birth control or abstain....... we can , but we choose not to. I wish if we become pregnant we can raise and provide for that baby... if we can't ......adoption... God knows how many children need homes, but why isn't adoption happening?
Incest and rapes happen all the time with pregnancies following. What then? i remember a mother who's daughter was raped by a relative and she became pregnant... she was 12. The only person that wanted her daughter to have this baby and keep it was her mother. I was sick to my stomach. My daughter is now 11 and I think of this allot.
If only we could stop unprotected sex, and rapes, then we wouldn't need abortion clinics. This will never happen.
I am Christian and NOT for the war.. but I do support our troops fully.

Christianity tries to follow the teaching of the bible as close as it is passable. As it is the teachings of Christ. Spirituality is some what different, it is knowing that there is a God but thinking your idea of him is as good as the prophets idea of him. If you don't except what they have said you say things like well my God wouldn't mind if I killed this life growing inside me so you choose to ignore the teachings when you do that. I don't like all the commandments given but have excepted them as divine and know how much better I feel when I follow them as best I can. People are not perfect however it should be our long term goal to become perfect just as Christ was. We will never achieve that in this life but we may in the after life.
Yes the taking any life is wrong. God only has the right to take life as he is the giver of life. The people who are killed in war will be at least somewhat if not wholly judged upon the leaders who sent their subjects to war. If you kill in war with out orders from the people above you in command you will be subjected to the Lords punishment also I am sure, providing it is not done in self defense. The lord will give his people the choice and right to save their own life.

This is a very good question, and very thought provoking. Thank you for asking it.
The title of your question is a little misleading, because "Pro Choice" often refers to supporting abortion in the United States. I think you are more interested in religious tolerance.
There is a difference between extremists who want to force their beliefs on others whether they want them or not, and those who hold their personal believes as correct and wish to attempt to convince others to believe like them. A belief that one is not willing to share is barely a belief at all.
Christian evangelicalism should not be considered through a lens of cynicism. Christians aren't trying to push their views on other people for selfish reasons. They believe what they do because they honestly think that the consequences of not believing (hell) are significant as are the rewards for sharing the belief (heaven). If you truly had faith that the cost-benefits of a certain belief were that profound, how selfish would you be to not try to share that information with as many people as you can?
But your second paragraph gets a little political, and here I may lose you. I'll speak for Christianity because it is the religion that I know best. The Bible says that we should not murder each other, but it does not address the issue of war directly. In fact, there are many wars in the Bible, and wars for the defense of the faith are supported. The Catholic Church as a "Just War" theory under which circumstances is a war acceptable. My point is only that the assumption that Christianity mandates respect for all life in all circumstances is an overly simplistic examination of the faith.

If you mean Pro-Choice as I know the term (in favor of legalized abortion) then the answer is that the unborn are no less human than you and I.
What is inside of the womb is completely, 100% human. Violence inside of the womb is just as morally reprehensible as violence done on a newborn baby. There is no fundamental difference in their humanity--one is physically larger and more dependant on the mother. But it is certainly no more human than the other.
Christians are not to judge people who are involved with the sin. However, we are to judge actions. This is what Jesus did--He was the most forgiving person that ever walked the face of the earth, but He also told people what was what.
For example, He forgave Mary Magdalene for her sexual sins. He did not say "I won't judge you; if you want to sleep around with everyone, that's fine with me. I am in no position to judge you." He forgave her, and then said "Go and sin no more." He acknowledged the sin by saying that she should do it no more, and He acknowledged that it was wrong wrong wrong. He also said "May the one who is without sin cast the first stone." and then "neither shall I condemn you."
So you see, there is a huge difference between condemning the sinner and condemning the sin. Christians condemn abortion as a horrible, self-inflicted tragedy. But we always always are ready to listen to the sinner, if for no other reason than we also make bad choices.

I am Christian and pro choice. God gives all humans the freedom of choice, and no other human has the right to take that away. In the book of Deuteronomy, He says "choose ye this day whom you will serve, either life or death..." Individuals must suffer the consequences of their choices, and so does society, to a certain extent, but I still do not believe the government, churches, or anyone else has the right to impose their beliefs on anybody else.

Excuse me, but how can you be saved, and be pro-choice?
I understand, you may need to come into the light over this issue, and if you haven't then I see that you can be Christian and be pro-choice.
BUT,
when you see the light, you will have to walk in that truth which has become revealed to you, because to turn from light revealed to you means you reject God.
Look at Jews who quit following Jesus after hearing something he said, or even those saved Jews who became hardened in heart and lost out while the Apostles were alive and walking this earth.

I'm Christian and believe you are right. I think as Christians we would all be better if the finger points among us policed their own hearts and used the bible as mirror and not a projector. As to the last you can't be a Christian and for the War it is priceless. I am pro peace and continue to pray for our troops safe return and the families in Iraq and Afghanistan. I'm also praying for the reconciliation of Islam toward us and vice versa.

there are absolute and relative truth. As a Christian there are things that are relative- but since God created babies, not just a child after birth, and since He tells us to CHOOSE LIFE in the Bible many times- in Deut. for one. It has to be an absolute truth. What is right for one person and not another can happen in the Christian faith, but not the absolute. And being pro-life is absolute or God would not say CHOOSE LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You can say that since He tells us to choose life, then there is a choice- yes there is, but that does not make it ok either choice you make. I do not mean to be offensive, I am just stating what God says.

One can't have faith in the Incarnation of God as a fetal human in the womb of Mary and be open to abortion any more than a real Christian(or Buddhist) can be open to any other form of killing innocent human lives because they are inconvenient. Mass human sacrifice to the god of convenience is apostasy. I see abortion as completely incompatible with the Beatitudes.

No . we are not in agreement at all, tho we each have a right to our own opinion. The original word for the do not kill, meant murder. It didnt speak to having to defend ones self. Or to going to war do defend your country. God allows us the freedom to worship Him freely, and we are to let noone or nothing prevent that. If we dont go to war with those that oppose the true God, then we will be forced to become muslim or to die. No Christian will allow that, but that is not to MURDER. that is to defend your country and yourself against the enemy of God.
When one takes a human life, that is murder. Noone is defending anyone. They are taking away the life of an innocent little baby, carrying life and human dna, and saying someone other than God has a right to say if they can life or not. Only God gives life and only God is to take life, unless He tells us differently in His word. And God does speak against taking human life, except for self defense, and for war . So, for you to compare those things, you are missing huge sections of the Bible, and only going on one command. The Bible is full of so many things, all fitting together piece by piece and forming a huge puzzle that shows the huge glorious picture of God, of His plan for us all. Yes, God does the judging, all of it. But, God does tell us strongly what sin is and what happens if we do it, that is clear, and we are to tell the world about the things He tells us and then leave them to God to deceide for themselves. Its an indivual decision that one can only make for themselves. Noone can do it for them.
No, there is no right for me and wrong for you. NO. NO NO. Doesnt matter what you think or me. It only matters what God thinks and we need to search HIs word daily to know that and to stay in prayer. obeying Him and allowing Him to bless us and give us new revelation. There are no two rights. Only Gods way is right, and its up to us to find out what that is.
I love the way ppl use the term fundamentalist, as tho its bad. If we truly love God , we will follow His word as best we can, kn'owing only He knows best, and we are glad to do so. Sacificing for the Lord in righteousness is a good thing. It doesnt send us to heaven, but it keeps us in His perfec t will and protection, so we arent deceived. YOu call us extremists. and link us with muslim extremist. what a joke.
They want to kill all that arent Muslim. We have no desire to kill anyone, But will defend our rights to worship the one true God. Triune God of unity. If you think we are fanatic, then you say Jesus is a fanatic. as He never backed down from the truth, didnt tiptoe with it ether. He preached what sin was and said what happened if we didnt leave it. That simple, yet He did it in love, but He didnt tiptoe. Nor are we to tipetoe, and if some get offended, we are sorry, but these are the last days and its time we just boldly tell the truth as Jesus did. Becoming offended is also a choice.
We can be Christian, and against aborition and yet ok to defend ourselves in war. IF you read your Bible and pray, you will know that. God bless you for asking.
And no, I am not prochoice, You all say you believe in your rights. Ok. BUt, that baby cant speak up for their rights, and someone has to do it, thats us Christians that will go to bat for them to say ALL life is valueable, and you have no business deceding any differently. Everyone that is into this will have to answer to God for it all. We must speak Gods truths or be held accountible. Jesus is coming soon, I pray we are all ready. YOu also say to set scripture aside as we deceide some of these things. NO , no decisions are to be made apart from God and HIs word.
