i have a few excel worksheets that i want numbered. Is there any way to make excel put numbers automatically when i open a new sheet. I want something like an invoice number. I want to put a number in the corner like 0001 and i want to know if theres a way that when i open a new sheet the number will be 0002?

You havetwo ways:
Way 1:
- Is renaming these sheets as something like "Invoice0001", "Invoice0002", etc
- Then, using functions like CELL with MID and SEARCH to get that sheet name in the cell you want
- This way, copying that sheet into another name, will make that cell to be updated to the new number
Way2)
- You can do it in Macro (VBA), I can do this for you, if you send me more details and informations about your file and sheets

Open the file.
click File
cl Page Setup
cl the Header/Footer tab
cl Custom Footer
Decide if you want it left, centered, or right justified
click in the appropriate box
On the Footer toolbar, click what looks like a # sign
That will enter the number
if you want P or Page before the number, type P#
Then, click o.k., o.k.

click the Print Preview button to see what it looks like.

In the Header & Footer Section of the view menu, add a footer.

Go to page set up - and add it in the footer area.
