i just saw a post that said the atheists should find their own section...hmmm. did Jesus not hang out with theives, tax collectors, lepers, and society's less desirables? are you better than Jesus? i have been on R & S for a few weeks now...however i got about 5 violations over the weekend, but, whatever.
anyway, i find the atheists in this forum to be very knowledgable of facts, both scientific and biblical, and just as firm in their belief or lack of, as we christians are.

don't you think we could learn alot from them???

Atheists give believers something to believe. Keeps them either strong in their faith or gives them pause to question it. You cannot have light without dark. There is no good without evil. There is no faith without faithlessness.

Agreed on some points! Jesus came in love NOT HATE. Christians today are so bent on "be like us or you're going to Hell." The problem is WE can't even agree among ourselves which one of US is actually right....denominationally speaking. Christ said to "take up your cross and follow Me". As long as we keep our eyes on Him and not on each other I think we will keep a spirit of love and compassion that Christianity oftentimes does not demonstrate.....not even among each other, let alone non-Christians.

As for "learning alot" from the atheists in these posts. Well, spiritually speaking.....I am well grounded in my beliefs and don't feel that I could learn anything from an Atheist spiritually. However, in other areas I'm sure I could learn plenty and am willing to do so. I am repulsed by intolerance no matter what side it is on.

Tolerance is the answer....Religous Tolerance.
Geesh!
Why must it always be a battle.? Can people just agree to disagree, have a little common courtesy and respect others beliefs and thoughts?

Regardless of the sect or denomination, coven or group.....There is much to be learned from others.
But Beware...once the search and intrigue begin and the light comes on....you are suddenly aware!
THE MORE YOU LEARN THE LESS YOU KNOW

I, "Satan," welcome your question, and all atheists.

There is no God.

Of course, after 10,000 years of accumulated scientific knowledge base all an atheist can do is rely on junk science to repudiate God?

After 10,000 frigging years scientists can't tell you how the Universe was created, nor what gravity is, and it is from this pathetic science base an atheist would reject God?

Wow, even for me, "Satan," that is pretty stupid. Then again, nobody except an atheist thinks atheists are smart anyways. That's okay, I, "Satan," think atheists are smart. Hahahahaaaa

Many fundamentalists seem to be weak in their faith...they refuse to have dialogue. They say that this is the way it is...period...and do not listen to other points of view, etc...

It must be great to be all knowing, and omnipotent as so many on this site must be....as they speak with such authority on scripture.

This goes along with those that turn off their message light...they drop a few verses on a post, an inflammatory statement and then refuse to discuss it....it just proves they are weak minded, and weak in the heart.

Yes, you can learn from anyone, but you don't have to endure bashing from them. Yes, Jesus hung out with sinners, but he didn't spend a lot of time around people who bashed him or didn't believe in him. He even told his disciples that if they entered a city and the people did not receive them or the Gospel, they should "shake the dust from their feet" and move on to the next town. Jesus never told his disciples to learn from anyone but Himself, and then to teach others what they had learned.

It is always interesting to hear an opposing viewpoint. It also gives you ideas to think about. Also atheists viewpoints are view points that you will hear a lot throughout life. It gives us a chance to hear the arguments without having to give an immediate answer.

Some people are either too infantile to grasp the concept of DISCUSSION OF RELIGION AND SPIRITUALITY.

OR

They are narrow minded enough to believe only Christians or theists are interested in discussing it.

OR

Are arrogant enough to believe that a desire to discuss religion or spirituality indicates a deep desire to join THEIR religious group.

Silly.

I am learning from them. I just learned that when a Christian article is in the news, they attack the news source rather than discuss the article. They are really afraid of the truth.
