Masons are forbidden to recruit. You have to ask. Asking starts the process. The rest is up to the order.

Simple answers is

"2 B 1 ASK 1"

Freemasnory does not solicit new members, but instead waits for those who wish to join to ask.

If you know a Freemason simply ask for them to get you a petition from his lodge, fill it out, send it back and you are on your way to joining the worlds oldest sculiar Fraternity.

If you do not know any Freemasons, do what I did, ring a local lodge and let them know you are interested and request a petition, fill it out, send it back and you are on your way to joining the worlds oldest sculiar Fraternity.

There are criteria that need to be met by all new candidates for Freemasonry.

There are two main requirements; that you believe in a Supreme Being, have a faith in a divine power, a creator and that you are male.

The third one is a minimum age, most areas it is 21, but some only require you to be 18 so if you are between 18 and 21 make sure you ask when you make contact.

There is no requirement for a blood relative to be in the order, this myth comes from a traditional title of the son of a Freemason which is a "Lewis". There is I guess what you'd call preferential treatment for a Lewis, but this is only in certain areas and this "preferential" treatment is nothing more than a "Lewis" being able to be initiated at 18 rather than 21, and if two candidates petition at the same time, if one is a "Lewis" they will go first. Other than that, everyone is treated exactly the same and as equals.

Benefits: Well this really depends on what you are looking for, like everything in life you get out of it what you put in! There are a number of aspects of Freemasonry, you have the allegory and symbology, you have the history and tradition, you have the ritual and ceremony, you have the fraternal bonding and you have the charity. If one of those items in particular really has your interest you can really get involved in it, or you can get involved in the lot.

Other than that, you will be joining the ranks of men who are honest, upright, just and would rather help another human being who needs it, than do nothing!

If you are really interested message me your general location, country, state, town if you feel comfortable enough doing so and I will give you contact details and direct you on your way.

If you want to become a Freemason, you have to ask a Freemason. You won't be approached.

If you don't know any Freemasons, try going to a lodge on meeting night and asking. They won't let you in as it is a secret meeting but you will be able to start the process as someone will guide you in the right direction.

What are the benefits? You will be among morally straight men with high integrity. There are social activities for members and their families. Other Masonic related organizations that you may join after you become a Freemason do good work for the community. An example are the Shrine hospitals for children.

Good luck,

A Freemason in Texas

To be one ask one.

I am also thinking about becoming one. If you are doing it to further your military career however, that probably won't work. Freemasons are also not a military organization. So, I really don't know what your thinking of asking it here was.

Finding one is easy. They usually wear rings or have small symbols some where on the back of their cars, those are the most common places. A Freemason will have some sort of symbol somewhere to identify them.

I asked a Freemason question 2 weeks ago.

Just so you know, the Freemasons do have religious ties and CAN be considered a cult and are by many. I do not think they are, but make sure you do your homework before you go jumping in.

Benifits are many and few, depending on who you ask. Give a call to your local Masonic Temple and inquire about "open" meetings. You can go, ask questions, and talk to someone about your interest in joining.
There is a "Grand Lodge" in each State / Country (the masonic family is also international) Below is the site for California. Hope it helps!

In America, there is the Mason's Society, which helps sponsor a number of worthy causes such as the Shriner's Hospitals. You have to be pledged in, study hard, past a test, and vow to keep all the secrets of the society. God Bless, Martha S.

Masons are by blood. Your dad, granddad, etc. has to be a Mason for you to become a Mason.

Like me... I can become a Mason because my Granddad is a Mason. But I'd have to pass their requirements. Believing in what they do. They look up to Solomon as the greatest world leader of all times.

There aren't really that many benefits. The Masons and the "Eastern Star" ordeal in America is shrinking in numbers. So... it's really only good for you to say that you're a Mason.
